I have a quick questions regarding the heat in my buddy’s house. He is having problems keeping a consistent temp in the house. One half of his house is warm and the other is about 10 degree cooler. When I looked at his duct work, 1/2 the house is running 10″ duct work and the the other half is running 6″. The half that has the 10″ is the warm side and the 6″ half is cooler. If he were to switch the 10″ side to 6″ ducting would that help to even out the heat in the house. All of his duct work is currently running in his attic and is the insulated flexible ducting so switching shouldn’t be too hard. If switching from 10″ to 6″ would make a difference can he put the reducer in the attic or would it need to be reduced at the furnace?
