With todays story, it looks like Bob Rippenhoff is leaving the Milwaukee Journal and there is not going to be a replacement. This is not a good sign for us in the outdoor sports category.
We need a spokesman for all of us. and if he is not replaced we all lose some power.

this is a very disturbing development in the newspaper industry and for all our sports.

Organize and lobby the Journal! Don’t threaten by cancelling subscriptions but let them know how much the writer and his articles meant to you……. and get as many on board as possible!

I for 1 is glad to hear he is done. I have never liked him in many meetings. He also was not a very good or honest writer.

I do hope that they do replace him but with the direction that they have gone ( journal ) it would not suprise me if they would stop writing about the outdoors completly.

    Only time will tell

When I lived down south I would read the outdoor section religously (after Sunday mass of course) on Sunday. Bud Lea was great, it would be a shame if they shut that section down, it seems newspapers are dying a slow death. I think it is somewhat there own fault, it seems now papers like the Journal are more interested in pushing there agenda on people instead of just reporting the facts, the New York Times, LA Times being a few prime examples, and the outdoor section would bring in kids like me- back when I was a kid to read something other than the funny section or the sports page….

I agree; never thought he was a good writer. The guy I really miss is Jay Reed, his love of the outdoors came throught in literally every article he wrote.
