We have been postponing the purchase of a gaming system for the kids but I think the time as come. 
My 9 year wants a Nintendo DS. If we get one for the 9 year old, the 7 year old will want one too. In an ideal world the 9 year old would share but I don’t think we (our family) lives in an ideal world.
Anyway, on to my question. Please keep in mind that I know nothing about any of this. Is a PS2 still worth purchasing ($129)? I really don’t want to spend $400 
on the lastest & greatest but I also don’t want to buy something that will be obsolete in a year.
