Yeah, you can use a scope on a muzzleloader in Iowa. Regarding any other info, I only recieved the pics from a friend and there wasn’t any info other than Monroe County. If I remember correctly there was a huge buck shot down in that area around ALbia several years ago by a kid.

Call me a skeptic, but I would be willing to bet that if you walked in a straight line in any direction from where that deer was killed, it wouldn’t take you long to run into a fence of at least 8 feet in height. I’m guessing that to be a game farm buck. Huge, no doubt, but I would be shocked if that was not a caged deer.

Guess I shouldn’t have posted it, because I know nothing about it. It was just such an impressive deer I thought I’d share it with you guys and maybe someone from down there would know the particulars. The hunter looks to be a very authenic Monroe County type. I’d trade him the one I got even up.

My 2 cents says it a wild deer. A buck that size is close to a worlds record and if he had to pay for this buck I bet it would go $25,000 or more. It looks like this old boy wouldn’t pay that kind of money. I’ve hunted quite a bit in southern Iowa and you see the pines planted in rows behind him, thats typical of the parks down there, up here too. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit to find out he took it close too a park in southern Iowa.

I kicked up an old gray buck one time while rabbit hunting and this guy was big, close too 300 pounds and his rack was going down hill but still he was a 160″ with lots of mass. Theres not that many people that live there and theres lots and lots of deer so the chances are good hes a wild one, my 2 cents says hes wild.
