The guy is gonna sign a huge deal somewhere but would you really want him if he couldn’t win in NY. Maybe three teams will chase Pay Rod. Cubbies, Angels, Mets and maybe the Dodgers? This is one of those times its great to follow a small market team. Just sit back and watch the show, lets see who coughs up 300 million for 10 years.

The yanks were going to or did offer 7 years 240 mil and he turned it down without a counter offer. Tells you how much he did not enjoy playing in that city.

I hope it’s not the Cubs. I don’t want that guy on the team. They need to rebuild from the ground up, not hire more temporary overpaid superstars. Sure, A-Rod is a great player, but adding him to a roster is not going to take you to the next level. And the money he’ll demand is going to be frightening. No thanks.

Yes, all of them are underpaid. But with professional sports, the athletes get paid a lot because the owners make a lot off them. How many people or TV networks pay to watch a paramedic save someone’s life?

A-Rod doesn’t like NY because he needs to be ‘big man on campus’. Some of the requirements of his contract included things like having his own kiosk outside the stadium to sell his stuff. He needs to have the most billboards…so if Jeter has 5 billboards around town, A-Rod gets at least 6…talk about greed.

I have been hearing today that it will be the Angels.

ARod (and his shyster agent) think a lot more about himself than the game. They want to be bigger than the sport that made him.

You mean like announcing he opted out at the same time as the Red Sox won so he could steal some of the headlines?

I’ve given up on paying for anything pro sports, tickets, kids clothing, etc… I’d rather go to a college or High School game. (They at least hustle for everything)
p.s. I’d rather spend the money on fishing or hunting stuff.

    OH THAT would be good!

Now it sounds like the MN Twins are going to lose Hunter. Sounds like he is not even interested in playing here anymore I guess I can’t blame the guy.

The talk this morning on ESPN radio has him, Torre, and Mattingly all going to the Dodgers. There sure will be a lot of rumors until he actually signs some place.

I’d love to see them all wearing Dodger Blue.

Imagine the seizure George Stienbrenner would have if his Yankee’s were to lose a world series to a Dodgers team with those 3 guys on it!

A-Rod will almost certainly resign with the Yankees.

Baseball is a team game and to say A-rod hasn’t won in NY why would anyone want him is…well ridiculous.

He won’t be going back to Yankees. Now the talk today is he is going to the Giants…By the time he signs, there will be a rumor that he is going to every team in the league, well except the Twins.

Now if you want an athlete that is the opposite of A-Rod. Tim Duncan just signed a two year, $40 million extension. Now that is still a ton of money, BUT under the NBA collective bargaining agreement, he could have earned another $11 million. Duncan told the team to use that money on other players.

“On the arrogance scale, A-Rod now has done the impossible. He has made the outsized Reggie Jackson of the 1970s appear as humble as Mother Theresa. “

WOW the author of that title was off! That was a good read!

Pay Rod’s agent Scott Boras is now trying to suck the Yankee’s back into the Pay Rod cash fest by saying it is OK to negotiate with his client. You think this isn’t a negotiating ploy to raise the price tag?? I hope the Yankee’s stick to there guns and say- NO WAY, you opt out we stay out, they would be absolute fools to get sucked back in, this is better than a soap or this years world series!!!!

Boras asked why was it ok for all the other Yankee’s to file for free agency but A-Rod can’t. Well there is a good reason. A-Rod made like $27 million this year, but the Yankees are not paying all of that. Texas is paying most of it. So by A-Rod opting out, if the Yankee’s want to resign him, they have to pay the entire salary. I’m guessing the Yankees are pretty pissed that he couldn’t just sign an extension so Texas would still have to pay a big chuck of his salary for the next couple years.

Me say “Boras da man” if he can get A-Rod that kind of money.

We all need to remember that someone has been willing (Tom Hicks in Texas) to sign those huge contracts for A-Rod.

Let say you were a pro-staff sponsored by Skeeter and received a discount on a boat. I called and said I can get you a deal with Ranger that will get you a free boat, $175,000 a year PLUS all tourney expenses paid. My fee will be a percentage of the value of the deal with Ranger.

    Would anybody jump to Ranger?????

A-Rod gets paid to play baseball, thats his job. Boras gets paid to get A-Rod the best contract, thats his job. Wanna blame somebody? Blame the guy who signs him, or blame yourselves for going to the games and supporting the owners.

A-Rod hit 54 homeruns and drove in around 156 this year. His baseball talents can’t be questioned.

    So……….whose fault is this?

    A)The owner for paying?

    B) The fan for paying $75 – $100 per ticket?

C)The player / agent for asking for $350 million?

The agent would never ask for it unless he thought he could get it. The owner would never pay it unless he thought he could recoup his money. So that leaves it on the fans. You keep paying and the agent will keep asking.

It’s a six BILLION dollar a year industry with the FANS generating every single penny of the six billion.

You vote out bad politictions who raise your taxes………don’t spend on baseball sponsors and you will kill $30 million dollar a year contracts. Until then……………….

As to the “dumb jock”…….would you trade places with him? I think I would.

    AMEN TO THAT ONE

What a slap in the face to pro sports I didn’t realize just how greedy he really was I mean 34 million for 7 years is just barely above the poverty line With that kind of salary he may as well file for bankrupcy and get on wellfare.
