I’ll never buy another set of Goodyears…The last set I bought last me about 25K. Granted, I was doing a lot of towing and always had a load on the truck, but they should last longer than that! Since then, I have been putting Dunlop Radial Rovers on the truck and haven’t had any problems with em

I would seriously look at Yokohama G39, or Falken’s. We put alot of them on. The Yoko’s have a better ride than the GY or the Falkens, but are much more reasonable than GY.

    Great post!

I’m in very bad need of 4 tires for the Trailblazer too.

I have 50k on the originals…should have been replaced at 40k.

Briank: I need a set for my Suburban too. Maybe you can convince Dean that Evert’s needs a new sku added to the shelves. Would give you something to do in the off cat season.

The coopers have been great for me, excellent with the plow.

Also if there is an American car care center near you guys you can get there brand American for less money and they are built by cooper.

I’ve had great luck with Firestone Destination LE in a LT265/70/16. Don’t get the “P” rated tires. Spend the extra money for LT tires. I got 60K miles out of my first set and my second set is wearing very slowly, also.

I’ve had 3 sets of Cooper tires and was very happy with all of them!

Coopers are a great tire for less money.

Brian. I put a set of Mich on the FW Trailblazer. She loves them. Great traction, quiet and smoooooth riding. A little expensive but a great tire.

I just replaced 4 Goodyear Fortera’s with the new Goodyear Fortera Triple tread on my SUV. I was happy with the Fortera’s and so far am happy with the new one’s as well. These two tires rate as less road noise but excellant traction rating. Good luck – there are so many choices out there.

You guys want a GREAT tire that is very competitively priced and has a good warranty then check out the General Grabber AT II. We sell a butt load of these things and people rave about them. The new Good Years with Silent Armor are also great but very costly and offer a shorter warranty. Firestone Destination AT is another option that is affordable, good, and has a 50k warranty. I’m avoiding the Cooper brand for a reason, sorry.

I put Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo tires on my F-150 and I couldn’t be happier. They’re quiet but also have fantastic traction, which is a tough combo to find. Plus, I’ve got about 35,000 miles on them and they’re at about 50% wear!

If your vehicle is aligned, and you rotate with some consistency, any tire should go 60K plus…

Stach.. I hate Goodyear tires, I havent had good luck with any of them. I have had ok luck with cooper tires in the past, but they seemed to have a lot of problems once they got to be a few years old(soft sidewalls, etc).

It looks like you are shopping for tires by price.. sticking to the cheaper tires that are probably on special at the local tire dealership.

I highly suggest to shop around and get some out the door quotes. I got out the door with extra warranties and top of the line tires(Bridgestone AT’s) for less money at Discount Tire than I could have got out the door with economy tires at Tires Plus(exact same tires you are looking at).

I’ll stand behind these other guts with the Revo’s being the best tire out there for mixed on and off road. Very quiet and good ride, awesome traction in the snow, mud, and wet pavement. I would have bought them for my jeep if they had a set on hand. I am happy with my AT’s, little rougher ride, but still pretty good traction and they are rated about the best for snow. They have a stiffer sidewall and rougher ride, but its never been this nice pulling a trailer with the jeep.

I would definately shop around and put the best tire on you can comfortably afford, you wont regret it the 1st time you hit the brakes on a slippery road, snow falls, or your trying to pull your boat out of a slippery ramp. You can also negotiate price at Discount tire.. cant say the same for other tire shops.

I just put a set of Revos’ on my Quad-Ram and I have to say they are very quiet on the road! I hope they are as good in snow-wet as some say, we’ll find soon enough.

Take a look at this site:
    http://www.Tirerack.com
I bought some tires and wheels from here and these people were great to deal with. I bought tires and rims for my 82 merc capri 5.0 (sister car to the mustang). They sent the tires and rims all set up and balanced and shipped UPS.

The front tires were a little wide – they only left about a 1/4 inch in between the shock tower and the tire. I called them up and they shipped out the next size narrower and sent return tags for the original ones….no charge.

The site has an iteractive area where you can pick your vehicle, even down to the color, and try different wheels / tires on it to see what it looks like.

The site has a tire rating area that you can look at different brands and models looking at wear, quietness, traction, etc.

It also has installer locator based on zip code with prices that they offer.

I don’t have any affiliation with the site, just had good luck with it and passing along the info.

I finally decided on Uniroyal Laredo tires..thanks for all the suggestions and input. Some of my decision was based on availability…seems the Jeep Grand Cherokee has a somewhat unusual size and limits what out there.
    Thanks Again.

All I have run for the last 10+ years are Kumho .They are a little pricey but they last and have some real rubber to them.AT’s and Mt’s depending what they are on and where they are used.I’ve had them on Suburbans 1 ton fords and My jeep grand cherokee and had not a single bit of trouble.

    …Old post…

Has anyone run Nitto Terra Grappler AT tires?

I haven’t heard of them, but the customer reviews from Discount Tire are good.

Another one rated good is the BF Goodrich Rugged Trail T/A?

Michelin! They are expensive, but there is a reason! My brother has Goodrich Long Trails on his Cherokee and has had no problems either. The key for wear is to make sure they are rated LT and not P.

True but not before terrible cupping and bad uneven wear. Last two trucks, brand new F150 came with the Goodyear RTS’s, within 10K bad cupping, real bad. New silverado, came with the Duellers A/T’s, at 10K had bad inside wear. My dad works for Goodyear which is also where I grew up working. I get regular rotates and have had several allignments on both rigs due to the uneven wear, both were within specs every time except once on the F150, it was a bit out. The RTS’s went 52K but had problems early, I pushed them to 52K, should have replaced at 25K. The Duellers are still on my silverado but don’t look good with the inside wear, they now have 40K, those will have to be replaced before next fall. Both the older RTS’s and dueller a/t’s have a pretty bad rep for premature uneven wear.

My understanding after all the allignments and rotates, these two brands of tires are just cheap.
Now what to get on the silverado this time around??

I’ve had excellent luck with Michelans. 80+ miles on the last 2 sets. I’ve been buying my tires at Sams Club. Tough to beat their prices and their maintenance/roadside protection plan.

I just put a set of these on my avalanche about 4 months ago. So far, I have no complaints. They work well in mud and snow. Not much road noise. Can’t tell you how long they last since they are new. They are a little pricey, but I really like the look of them.
