We are taking a 4 day weekend to Hungry Jack Lack up by the Gun Flint Trail this weekend and was woundering if anyone knows anything about it. They say that it is a great lake for smallies and wallies. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I havn’t fished it but have spent sometime in the area!!! you’ll like alot, make sure to head up to Flour Lake and hike up to the “Look out” you can see all the way to Canada…and around 3-4 different lakes…

Fished it years ago, walleyes can be tough because its ultra clear like many lakes in the area. Low light and after dark are the best times. Smallmouths seemed to be everywhere! I remember there was one main reef that people fished for walleyes and we would set up on that with lighted slip bobbers. This time of year I would think trolling after dark would be a great idea.

Have not been up in several years. But not a lot changes year to year. Your best bet for walleye will be trolling small stick baits at night along the shorelines. Long line them waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back and go as stealthly as possible using electric t-motors only.

Just got back from Hungry Jack Lodge today and it was probially the best fishing I have ever had. I was mainly going for smallies but caught a few walleyes around 20″ and 2 northerns over 34″. In 2 days of fishing I caught over 200 smallies with the smallest one at 15 1/2″ and the largest one at 20 1/2″, the average size was 18″. The great thing is that I only fished for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours before dark, that means lots of action. I would reccomend to anyone to make a trip up to Hungry Jack Lodge and check out that lake. There were some wallie fishermen up there at the same time and they caught a limit almost every time out, they also caught a 20 lbs northern. The resort is awsome and the owner, Forest, is a great guy. I will be going up there every year for a fishing outting from now on. I am also going to make a report on the bass forum.
