In a lil tourney this weekend with about 10-15 boats, mainly friendly way of getting together and out on the water…Well now my Father in law who’s ultra competitive has somehow been invited and he’s gonna fish in it – Its like “Meet my Parents” and i’m Gaylord Fucher, but i’m not a male nurse…simply put, he’s always critical of things i do or say….well he fishes in the MWC and he’s retired so obviously he has a huge advantage – he’s probably pre-fishing right now….

So here’s the challenge, any insight on Bass or Walleye in Pools 9-10 that would help me beat him would be a huge feather in my cap….

Thanks in advance, will let you know how it goes after this weekend!!!!

Wow, good luck with that one Gaylord. I mean, uh….Mr. K.

That’s always a tough deal when you got someone in the family like that. I hope you do well and come out on top.

    Good first post
    Welcome to IDA

I would think there are saugers and some eyes to be found on pool 9 by the dam in the tail waters. They should start showing up with the water temps still dropping and the flow has come up some.

I would fish 9 from the tail waters south for that first 3/4 mile stretch hitting wing dams. There is also some good sand flats/clam beds in that stretch. 1/4oz – 3/8oz jig and minnow has been taking a few fish for me on pool 8.
No braggin’ rights yet but the fish are starting to show up.

just got back from pool 9, We put in at Lansing and worked our way up to the dam. Spent all day trying and trying. We caught 5 sauger one went 17″ and one 14.5″ eye. All the drum you’d want. We tried jigs and tails and one eyes. The keeper sauger came off the flats in about 13″ of water. Get away from the dam and the grass is manageable. Good Luck!
