I am going up to Mille Lacs on Saturday and Sunday for some smallies and muskies. The last time I was up there we launched out of Isle at the public launch and it was so low that we were scraping bottom through the channel.

Any suggestions on which launches are best to use this time of year ?

    Any hints on fishing latley?

    Thank you.

There are continuing reports in the Mille Lacs forum with updates to many launches… See here:

I launched at Cove Bay last night. Right at the launch the water is deep enough, but it gets shallow out about 35 feet I’d guess from the prop wash of people driving up on thier trailers. I could get out in my 16′ with a 30 hp in shallow drive without hitting bottom. I did not catch anything under that big moon. I was trolling Rapalas off the rocks at the entrance to the bay.

I spoke to some guys from Wisconsin when I landed. They were going out with their fish shocker boat. I have not seen one of those close up before, quite the impressive rig. About 20′ long with a platform up front. A 3′ high rail around the platform with floodlighting above that. Behind that a galvanized oval stock tank. I guess a regular live well is not big enough. Towards the rear a huge Honda generator. A Honda 50 and 10 on the transom. I wonder how well they did.

That was probably a GLIFWIC boat doing a survey. Google up GLIFWIC for more info.
