You must be refering to the Hershel Walker trade?? This is the the most untrue statement, but I can see where Viking fans need to find more excuses not to go to a game until they are winning!(ie Bandwagon) In the history of the Packers they’ve had a hard time in the 70’s and 80’s. Other than that this has been a pretty solid franchise!! And most recently since Favre has been here we have had 1,yes that was 1 losing season since! In case your not familiar, that has been since 92′

Dave there is only one quaterback in those 5 that I “may” take over Favre……Young doesn’t even belong in there, he was a product of the system!

Some one posted Montana’s interceptions per game, which I believe was .72. Correct me if I am wrong, but there is one QB no one has even mentioned, who probably threw less interceptions per game then Montana and holds the record for most consecutive passes without an interception. Of couse, another Packer, his name is Bart Starr.

Now for a bit of trivia, Favre and Marino are tied for most TD passes, who is next in line.

Right, it suprised me a bit, but he drove us Packer Fans nuts.

A bit more Bart Starr stuff. His record in championship games was 9-1 and he was MVP of Super Bowls 1 and 2. He threw 294 consecutive passes without an interception, simply unreal. His interceptions per game are less then Montana’s and when he retired he had the highest pass completion percentage of anyone that ever played the game.

I guess as far as a Viking fan goes, I subscribe to your Jordan quote in your sig line, “I can accept failure, but cannot accept not trying” I believe Favre feels the same way, when he asked to be traded, if they weren’t going to go after Randy Moss. Speaking of….

No Steve Young? 8 NFC championship games, 3 Rings, Superbowl MVP (6 TD passes), 6 Pro Bowls, the most efficient passer in NFL history AND a great running QB as well.

Comments like that make you lose loose all credibility.

The beauty of all this talk is the Vikings just plain suck, they have zero at QB, as in nothing, as in crap. Favre, well I will let his accomplishments speak for themselves. The beauty about this weekends game is unless you can stop Favre you have no chance of winning, your coaching staff couldn’t make a half time adjustment if the coach from the other team told you what adjustment he was making. I’ll give you an average D, and if it wasnt for Sharper (ex Packer) you wouldnt have nothing at all. Favre is 3-1 in his last four starts in the Dumpy Dome so all this talk is just that- Talk. Favre and the Packers will once again show there superiorty and dominate the forever rebuilding Vikings. Hey Denny Green is looking for job cause the way things are going for you guys you might want a new coach, then again all of us on this side of the border hope and pray Childress will be there for another 4 years of rebuilding

G that issue was taken care of already, and Favre himself said he never said it.

Dave like I said, product of the system, good quarterback yes….put him up there with the greats….NO!

    This here was in Wikipedia….

In 2005, TSN published another special feature honoring the 50 Greatest Quarterbacks. With his career statistics considerably augmented, Favre was ranked number 4, behind Johnny Unitas, Joe Montana and John Elway, and just ahead of previous Packer quarterback legend Bart Starr.

I didn’t know holding the clipboard for Montana in three of those championship games and two of the super bowls qualified Young as a great QB?

Everybody seems worked up about the number of super bowls won to determine greatness, so wouldn’t that automatically put Favre ahead of Marino on the list?

big g, are you a Vikings fan? I guess I couldn’t tell if you were that or just a Farve hater. I guess if tickets were available to a Packers home game, I’d be first in line. Question for you, how many outdoor professional football games have you been at? If you have experienced one, how does the atmosphere compare to that of a game in the dome? I’ve been to both and I know where my money is going. Had a great time with Vikings fans at Lambo, have had several unpleasant experiences with Vikings at the dome.

Please show me “1” instance to where I say or even elude to Favre not being a good or great quarterback. The only issue I have been pointing out is this. No matter what the front office of the Pack does, whether they skate through another season with Brett, and no talent around him or try to put some talent with Favre, the Cheeseheads, keep saying how they are the best thing since sliced bread. They were at times throughout the franchise, but not for the last 10 years +. I look at it as a dog owner, leading his blind dog over a cliff. I am a Vikings fan always, but will only pay attention, when they truely try to put together a winning team. Every team owes that to their fans. Granted only 1 team can win, (as Denny said) but they can at least put forth an effort. This hasn’t been happening as of late, so I rather spend the beautiful sunday afternoon, outdoors, in a tree or shooting clays or fishing or whatever, than to plant my butt in a $60 plastic seat, and watch a mediocre team at best. Furthermore, I have a wonderful recliner and a 47″ Bigscreen in the basement, but will forgo that also for time in the out of doors. Again, alot of people may ADMIRE the cheeseheads for their undying love of the Packers, but don’t try to tell me how you are such a better fan for it. I think it is idiotic at best, to follow so blindly. That is just my opinion, and I never stated it as fact. I am waiting to see where I bashed or said that Favre was not a good quarterback…. he did ask for a trade when GB passed on Moss, and New England got him for a song. He never denied that, he just said he let his emotions get in the way. This can be found on the NFL’s own site. Talk to me late January, and maybe you got somethin…. Who said anything about atmosphere at a football game ? The dome sucks. It always has… your point ?

It’s not fair to lump us all together. I’ve had a blast with lots of packer fans in the dome. While a good friend had to sit and listen to a 7 year old drop F bombs at the Viking’s fans during his trip to Lumbo. All while Ma sat and drank beer. Is this a fair cross section of packer fans?? I don’t think so, most kids are with Dad at the games.

We all feel passionate about “our” team. What I don’t get is because I criticize the Vikes organization, I’m considered a bandwagoner, but you guys that bleed green/gold are loyal. To the point of blindness at times. I’ve admitted Favre is one of the best ever, as have most. Some guys just can’t help themselves here and want to continue to dig on you folks from across the border….Dave, G, ME!!!

G the salary cap has alot to do with what teams spend and we owe it to our teams to stick by them and go to the games. Fill the stadium so when they have room in the cap they now have the money to get those players….Do you think San Fran wanted to turn into a dismal team????

I do not think “the cap” will work for either of our teams as of late. If I “owe” my team something, surely they must have done something for me then ….. not. Put out a good product, it will sell in Minnesota. Put out anything in GB and they will come in droves. A little different, that’s all. If wanting the team to do their best to field the best team possible, is asking too much, make room on the bandwagon for me. Hopefully the bandwagon is going huntin’

    Gentlemen,
As always…ford vs. chevy. I accept that. In my life, I have a lot more important things to worry about than this debate. I respect the viking fans opinions and hope to fish with all of you someday. Hopefully you all can give me a little more ribbing at that time. Until then, I enjoy watching Favre and the Pack and wish the Vikes the best of luck…I think they will need it…

“You guys love the “bandwagon” line. How many games do you go to a year ? All of them I hope…. otherwise “bandwagon””

You asked about the relevance, Bret creates the atmosphere, you have to experience this firsthand. I’m not a good judge of ignorance. Your above quote asks the question about the amount of games attended per year, and if someone doesn’t attend all of them they are on the “bandwagon” Which color is the bandwagon? If given the chance I’d attend a game at Lambo in a snowstorm with the Pack loosing, than sit infront of a TV, but that’s me, not a fair weather bandwagon attendee. Your point is taken, now we know how you sit. To hate him is one thing, to respect his desire and emotion is another.

I just received my notice from the packers ticket office yesterday that I have moved up to number 58,340 on the 2007 Season Ticket Waiting List Priority. I have been on that list for 5 years. Someday, I hope to be able to attend every game. My kids are #65,078 and #67,884 on the list. I figure in 40-50 years, they will be able to enjoy season tickets. By the time I make it… …I probably won’t remember who the Green Bay Packers are.

Still waiting for the Favre hater comments I made. Lambeau was Lambeau long before Favre was born. It was said a couple weeks ago, GB only has pro football, the only game in town. If the Vikes were the only game in town, you can bet you couldn’t get a ticket to that either… corporate would buy em up in a heartbeat. Doesn’t make em any better, just would be the only ticket in town. I have heard that people in WI sign their kids up for season tickets when they are born, this could be adding a little to the overinflated waiting line….

Seeing how we can’t have political debates on here anymore we just have to have these right G? The reson for people signing their kids up though is because when we started signing ourselves up it would take 20 years to get tickets. So us Wisconsinites got smart and started signing our kids up so when they were young they would have their tickets for a long time. And G you talk about the only game in town?????? Explain to me then Chicago, NY, Philly, Dallas…….list couls go on and on

We have to debate something… everyone knows Dodge rules.

The cities listed are bigger markets than Mpls/St Paul. They don’t all sell out every game every year either.

There are more then one of these ratings deals. The last one I saw, which excludes active players rated Montana #1, Unitas #2, Otto Graham #3, and I believe Starr and Terry Bradshaw were in the top 6.

As for the Steve Young comment, I didn’t realize holding clip boards counted.

The Packer waiting list for tickets just exceeded 80,000.

As for the Metro Dome, are any of you good at ping pong. We could hold a giant tournament.

Bart Starr was the most overrated player ever to play the game. Just look at his stats. They are horrible.

    16 years
    3149 pass attempts
    57.4% completion percenbtage
    24,718 yard
152 TDs (the fewest of any QB in the hall of fame)
    138 INT

These stats are for a career that is just one year shorter than Favre’s.
