I am going to fish walleyes on Pepin in the middle of October? Anyone recommend what part of Pepin to fish? I am trying to decide where I should stay and want to try to stay close to where the best fishing will be. Do I want to be north of Pepin toward Red Wing or south of Pepin to catch the most eyes?

Lake Pepin itself is very moody to fish in the fall as it appears to me the fish seem to be on the move, here one day gone the next. My personal choices would be to stay at Everts resort and fish the upper end of pool 4, or fish down on the south end of the lake by camp lacouplis. If others reply I too would be interested if anyone consistantly catches walleye on the lake, because I dont have them patterned yet.

    thank you

I was originally planning on fishing the north section toward Red Wing, but Everts is booked the week I am going. So I guess I move on to plan b. Where else can I stay and fish the north part of the pool?

No reason to abandon the upper part of the pool just because Everts is full.

I have had friends stay at cheap motels in Red Wing (of which there are PLENTY) and then drive over to Everts and meet me first thing in the morning. You’ll get the best information, bait and tackle on the river, plenty of parking and lots of hot coffee.

I agree. Check out Parkway Motel in Red Wing. I don’t have the number but calling information would get it for you. Alot of people stay there when Everts is full. Everts is ALWAYS first choice but this gives you a back up place. As always, when staying at ANY motel any place always lock everything up in your boat or bring it inside.
    Thanks, Bill

If I do stay in Red Wing, is there a bait shop or a good launch? Or could I just drive down to Everts and put in there and get my bait? How far is Everts from Red Wing or Lake City? I appreciate all the advice, it really helps because I am not familiar with the area, but have heard great things about it.

Red Wing…5 MINUTES if you drive with me!

Lake City is quite a bit farther… Ellsworth about 10-15 min max…

Anyone else stayed at or that recommends the Parkway Motel in Red Wing? I just need a good place to sleep that is clean and sanitary, nothing spectacular. Where else can I stay close to Red Wing or in Red Wing if not the Parkway? Thanks.

I have stayed at Parkway and it was decent but if I could book a room they have a unit that sets by itself thats real nice and plug ins are just outside
