A buddy of mine has a mid 80’s, 18′ Sylvan with a 115 merc on it. It needs work, like the transom replaced, steering and throttle linkage work, ect. The motor hasnt been run in, probably 10 years, but it ran when he put it out to pasture. Trailer is sound, but rusty.

So, we are sitting at the bar last night, tipping a few more then a few back. And we get in a bit of a heated discussion as to what this might be worth. I would like more opinions on this. Any ideas on a value? sperate or together?

This will not be for sale on IDA, I want nothing to do with it.

I made a friendly wager that he couldnt get $2500 for it. He probably wont remember anyway.

I found similar motors on ebay, in similar condition, that you could pick up for $600. And surely the boat isnt worth anything.

Almost nothing for the boat. Those things are all over the place, and especially if the transom is bad, not worth a thing.

I am not a Merc Expert, but my guess is no more then $500.00 for the motor and trailor. Frankly, from experience I would leave the boat behind.

Leave the boat and motor with the cows build a BBQ grill on the trailer.

I always like questions that start out with this line (So, we are sitting at the bar last night, tipping a few more then a few back) The only way it is worth $2500 is if you look in the glove box and there is $2400 in there.I do like the BBQ on a trailer idea though
