I finished my in Oct last year, it was quite a job. We used Eagle windows and I like them real well. They keep the drafts and cold wind out and are easy to remove.
I\\\’ll second Eagle Windows. They are a very high quality product and the factory is just down the street from my office here in Dubuque. Another high-end window is Pella which is high priced but worth it. A third is Anderson which is also a high-quality window.
Be careful of the Pella and Anderson marketing machines. There are a lot of better windows out there. I would go here and search on different types of windows. It would be nice if they just listed best to worst, but it seems like you have to pick a manufacturer and then a style to get the ratings.
We recently just finished building a house and we went with Anderson windows. I think they are easily in the top 3 windows a person could by. So far so good. If you need to clean the outside of the windows you can do so from the inside of your house – Amazing. I am sure other companies have the same feature but Andersons is VERY user friendly. I would say Anderson:)!
We had alside windows put in our house. Front crank outs didnt last even 2 years. Bugs ate holes in all the screens the 1st summer. Looks to be pretty cheap stuff if you ask me.
Marvin INTEGRITY O complaints from me i put in all casements and their great.
I would say 1. Marvin 2. Hurd 3. Pella These are by far the highest quality brands out their.
We just put in 15 marvin integrities last fall no problems with any of them.
I\\\’m in the same \\”boat\\” as you, I\\\’ve been looking at so many different styles and brands I\\\’m probably more lost than I ever was. I\\\’m convinced the warranty is the most important factor, will the company be in business if I have a problem? Also making sure its not a hired contractor installing, so if there is a situation I can go right to the dealer, manufacturer instead of playing phone tag. I\\\’ve almost decided on allside windows installed by Lindus const in baldwin wisc, they seem to have everything I\\\’m looking for and the price for 15 windows is about 12,000…..triple pane, low E and 100% replacement for any problems, defects, even kids breaking them for [censored] long as you opwn, and also for the next owner,( nice selling feature) damn I bable don\\\’t I…..good luck keep in touch
I worked for Pella Windows for 5 1/2 years. First as a manager in one of their manufacturing plants, then in sales. I would go with one of the big 3 1. Pella 2. Marvin 3. Andersen. I did replacement sales in the cities for 2 years and saw a lot of cheap windows that had to be replaced in less than 10 years. All 3 make a high quality product and stand behind them. Pellas are usually more expensive, but they offer some really cool options, and I can speak from experience that they are built to high quality standards. But if you don\\\\\\\’t want the options like blinds between the glass, I would put them on an even plane with Marvin and a little higher than Andersen, but not much. I don\\\’t think you could go wrong with any of those three.
Im installing Pella econoline windows in my house right now, its not because thier made here in Pella Iowa its a decent priced window for the quality im getting for my price range. If I was rolling in the dough I’d go with eagle windows, thier a very nice window in the oak hardwood jambs area, very nice cabinet grade oak and come with very nice quality screens. Anderson windows are probably just as good as anyones are and so are Pella. Pella has thier premieum line quality styles that are very nice too. Id look for the best gaurantee in replacement and then compare quality in the working mechanisms then looks. Eagle covers all of these areas, they are a little expensive here in town but they are also a very nice clean style window and you can tell alot of thought went into the designing of them.
Surprised nobody has mentioned Crestline yet. I put in a couple awning windows about 20 years ago and had the crank out mechanism fail last year on one. Called them up and they sent a replacement. Said they were guaranteed for life. No questions asked.
I have a mix of windows, Pella, Anderson, and Crestline. I haven’t had a problem with any of them. I pretty much used the manufacturer that had a stock size closest to my rough openning, some special sizes are $20-50/window extra. It would have been nice to have waited until now to replace them with Andersen coming out with their 400 series with Low E4 glass
My Dad is a contractor and all they want to put in is Pella and Marvin. Keep in mine there are two lines of Pella windows. You get want you pay for. My neighbor used to sell for Pella and then went to Windor. He had to admit, Pella was better by far.
