I have a 2008 115 E-tec model E115DSLSC serial #G 05205114 with less than 20hours the first week I had it it ran fine when I put it in salt water the problem started. When you give it gas it will run to a plane and die. The motor never shuts off it just won’t go and all the alarms go off. I have taken it back twice the last time they told me they replaced the throttle position sensor. I took it out today same problem. Any suggestions and has anyone heard of this on any other E-tec motors. At this point I am very disappointed in Evinrude with its supposed maintenance free motor for the first 3 years. Evinrude is the only motors I have ever owned, but I am to the point I don’t think I will own any more.

elwin – The guys at BBC could not help you? this sounds like the dealer did not prep the motor correctly. take it back to the dealer and have them fix it – if they cannot, take it to another dealer to fix. new motors should run out of the box with correct dealer set up.

My buddy had a problem with his 2 yr. old 150HP E-Tec. It turned out to be a bad block casting. They replaced the power head under warranty. It runs great again!

They gave him a printout of his old motor log. It listed all the hours, weather it was winterized correctly, % wide open, top speed, % idle. These things seem pretty high tech. I can’t believe they can’t fix it for you

Let us know what they find!!!

    Good Luck,

    Ferny.

You also may need to tell the dealer that you are running it in salt water as the adjustments probably aren’t set for salt water. Do you have the ”white” motor which is the saltwater model? Salt water is very hard on motors and the blue motor is a fresh water model which is not made for salt water.

    Thanks, Bill
