The Pack!

Ok so the Pack lost last night. Frankly, as a Packers fan, I’m glad they did. Maybe for their sake but certainly for the “fans”. Truly some people we’re, I’m sure, losing it. After two wins in preseason I was amazed how people all but had their Super Bowl seats already bought. I swear I was gonna lose it, lol. Last weeks game sounded great on radio. This weeks game looked pretty shaky on TV. The defense looks like they have a chance to mold together pretty well and likely sooner than later. But I’ve said it for the last 2-3 years. Where are Favre’s targets? Why has management refused to get him some veteran talent? After the game Macarthy said they struggled to run the ball in the first half. Duh! Thye tried a whopping NINE times! Even if you have the leagues best back averaging, for instance, 6 yards per carry that is simply not enough. Of course we’re sitting on a bench full of rookie back ups for running backs. Thanks Thompson.

I’ve not given up hope as it is obviously still about finding the best players on the team. The plays are very vanilla and that too leads to a very blah game at times. However I still see a team that will struggle against any kind of decent defense because we will be again one dimensional. I hope they prove me wrong and will gladly say they have if they do. I can’t wait until next weeks game, hopefully we’ll see something to grip to there.

Oh, anyone hear any word on Driver?

Very young yet. Average record at best. The last thing the O needs is for Driver to go down.

You just cannot determine anything from pre season games. I like the rythum Farve was getting into in his last series, but I am not sure the Jags had in the 1st string defense. Rodgers made some plays, but took a lot of sacks. Driver sustained an ankle sprain and it is still too early to determine when he will return. Their run defense looked bad, except for some short yardage plays. I paid once to see a pre season game and would never do it again. It was in Madison, so it was a novelty to see the Pack in Camp Randall. If they can play like they were at the end of last year, it will be a good season.

Preseason games are bogus and should not be televised. They are by no means a showing of what a team will look like come the regular season. Once the final roster cuts are made you will then see a team. Right now it is not a team but instead a bunch of guys that are trying to make the team.

When you say that you are wondering where Favre’s targets are at I hope you don’t mean Randy Moss because the Pack is way better off without that idiot. I would have liked to see them pick up a speedster like Ted Ginn from Ohio State (rumors were that they were going after him) but they obviously didn’t get him.

The Packers will pick up where they left off last year. The division will come down to the Packers and the Bears but the Packers will handle the Bears like they did the last game of the regular season last year. The Vikings and Lions will once again play no part in determining the division champ. The Vikings and Lions have become embarrassments to the division. Losers year after year.

I dislike Moss and everything he has done off the field and many things he’s done on the field. However it is hard to argue his talent. I’m not saying we should have taken Moss but we should have taken someone. Face it, right now we have rookies and back ups. Rookies hit a wall about the 8-10 week of the season because they are not used to a 16 week schedule. Some will shine and I hope many do this year or it will be a long season. I still smell a new GM for the Pack if they do not surprise everyone this year. Thompson better have his resume in order, lol.

All that blather said, ain’t a single one us knows what the season will bring. I always chuckle at the bold predictions people make. “Oh the Bears are a flash in the pan.” “The Packers will finish the season 10-6 and make the play offs.” We’ll see come seasons end. I love the Bears and I love the Packers. Come head to head I want the team with the best chance to go all the way to win. Besides after the games are over I still have to go back to work. It’s entertainment watching games and meant to be fun.

Have fun guys, this is just a fun topic and not aimed starting a scuffle. Go Pack! (And Da Bears!)

no self respecting Packer fan would mention the bears in the same sentence as the beloved green and gold. You can’t be both because the bears suck and always will. The only thing worse than bear fan is viking fan.

You people are a weird breed of fans out there! the bears will man handle the central division again even with a crappy quarterback and I am not even a bears fan! Until they get Brett off the field the green will go not see post season period!

About the only thing you can learn from these preseason games is wether or not the lines are any good.
The Packs D-line isn’t to bad but for about the 3rd year in a row, the O-line stinks. They pass block better than last year but they can’t run against anyone. The best running backs in the leaque couldn’t surmount any decent yardage running behind these guys!
And of course we all know, that the guys Mr. Thompson has brought in are not anywhere close to the best.

Don’t kid yourselves, the Packers will be right around .500 again. They will not advance to the playoffs. They don’t have the guns on offense and are re-tooling.

My beloved Queens are horrible and will be in the running for the #1 draft pick. They are playing like the Packers pre-Favre.

Just remember, #4 will retire someday and return that team to the cellar. Enjoy the rest of his run. Now where are my John Hadl trading cards?

Actually playing against one of the toughest run stopping D’s in the league the result was relatively predictable, one thing cannot be disputed, since Brett Favre has been QB of the Packers they have had a winning record against every team in the division and have dominated the Bears and Lions in shear wins versus losses, sweeping the Vikings last year was sweet. The Lions havent won in Lambeau since before Favre. I am guessing that the Vikings or Bears would rather have a 38 year old Favre at the helm this year versus the inexpierenced mistake prone QB’s they have behind center. It should be a very interesting year to watch football in the central. Go Pack!

It is called giving the young guy experience to learn the game just as any other QB has to do to learn the game. I believe planting Rogers on the bench for 4?? years or whatever is hurting the Pack more than anything. Rex Grossman is on his last leg as a starter I believe and Jackson should be interesting to watch this year as long as he does not get the Mike Vick virus of look left look right and run! I see what is happening in cheese land the same as what happened with Testiverde and Jerry Rice live the dream of the past till the last thread has broken. I said it last year and I will say it this year again IF the Pack go .500 or less the fist 6 games PUT ROGERS IN!!!! It is for your own good! That being said is it college hockey season yet?

I get asked that a lot and the answer is actually pretty simple. Number one I know ahead of time who I want to win and that is usually based on who has the best post season chances. Another factor is how much other fans from either team are annoying me.

Th very best thing is each play is a “good play”. Liking both teams there is never really a reason to say anything bad except when a ref screws up. Speaking of refs last nights game was pretty bad between poor calls and stupid rules, IE the “tuck” rule.

Amen to that. Up at Lambeau it seems the Vikings fans are the rudest of them all. They get intoxicated, rowdy, and get themselves kicked out of the stadium. As season ticket holders, we can lose our season tickets if us or someone we sell our tickets to if they get booted out of the game. We have friends we sell tickets to, however, none of them are Vikings fans. Furthermore, why make the drive to get falling down drunk, make a fool of yourself, and get kicked out just to drive all the way home again?

I like there receivers; Driver, Jennings and Jones sound pretty good to me. However, I wish the Pack would have signed Ahman Green and they had enough $$$ under the salary cap to get it gone. This kid from Nebraska does not have the strength Green had to pick up a few extra yards, and it is so obviuos watching him run.

P.S. I just heard Donald Driver should be OK.
