Did we all get enough rain for awhile? Saw on the news this AM about southern MN. Looks pretty bad. We needed the rain but not all at once. This should bring the rivers and lakes up some.

They’re saying almost 11 inches just at LeCresent. Watching Rob Kock on KSTP this morning they’re worried more heavy rains might hit all those areas already flooded.
WarrenMNAugust 19, 2007 at 5:16 pm #601319Now if we canjust get the rain to fall in other areas than the already saturated areas it wouldnt be so bad.
The metro finaly got some rain with the recent storms, but it seems we have been in a bubble the rest of the year. We could use a couple more inches of rain. The excess will run off into the lakes and rivers which are all at least a few feet low(lakes).
August 19, 2007 at 6:32 pm #601327Some parts of LaCrosse received 10 in” – with more coming….
River here in LaCrosse is supposed to hit flood stage of 10′ MondayAugust 19, 2007 at 7:01 pm #601332I was on the South Side of LaCrosse during the major part of our rainfall. The streets were flooded and cars were stalles all over. Once the water finally flushed out you could see a water line of leaves up in people’s yards. I thought it was funny, a neighbor made a Slow No Wake sign and put it in there front yard. You could have easily ran a boat through there.

August 19, 2007 at 8:38 pm #601345The normally peaceful creek behind my house was an angry muddy river this morning. The kids’ swimming pool on the deck filled up two times since Friday night. Looks like more rain coming for the rest of the night. I guess I’m not getting the grass cut today.

August 20, 2007 at 1:08 am #601385Here are some pics of elba MN the pictures are of the Main strip on 74 that goes through town. there was a lot of damage to houses and even a barn exploded.
If you link out to photos on photobucket be sure that they are no wider than 450 pixels or you will stretch the page here on the site.
Using the photo upload system here on the site is FAR easier and quicker than using photobucket or other photo hosting sites once you get the file sizing figured out. The other nice thing about uploading photos to the IDA server is that they’ll always be part of the post you added them to. If you browse old threads you’ll find nearly all photos added using a hosting site are missing… so the posts that are loaded with all those red “X’s” indicating a missing file.Crop and size your pic and save it in your computer as a jpeg remember 450 pixels on it’s largest side.
The name of the file can not contain any spaces or characters like @ # * .
Once saved to your computer go in and post a message in the forum of your choice.
After your post is typed in leave the box checked that says “I want to preview my post and/or attach a file”
Then there will be a box marked “browse” click this and it will take you to “your computer”
Select the picture you want to post by clicking on it, this will put the picture in the browse box…
Click continue and your all done….Our photo uploads are free to any and all members and your pics will never get lost or bumped off the server.
To start the photo upload just check the box that reads “I want to preview my post and/or attach a file.”
I’ve included a screen capture for reference.
If you still have problems posting pics send you questions to [email protected]
Also check out some of these picture resizing programs if you are having troble resizing pics.In-depth Webstaff
August 20, 2007 at 2:46 am #601416Been long time since I’ve been to Elba. The first and last ones must have been at the jct with 248 or did that turn and go south at Altura, and the middle was on the south end of town?
Can remember surveying to replace the bridge just out of site of in the middle image back ten years ago or so. Such a small picturesque stream back then.
That was the White Water wasn’t it? Any people in the camp ground?
WarrenMNAugust 20, 2007 at 3:34 am #601425we were just urged to leave our house by the shelby county fire department..and we did. Sitting at the Raddison right now. We are in danger of the house behind us sliding into our property, and house. needless to say i packed all of my fishing equipment in the truck. Not taking any chances. This sucks.

August 20, 2007 at 1:57 pm #601511Cade,
I hope everything works out for your family and your neighbors. This rain has been unbelievable.
On a different topic, I was watching CNN yesterday as they were covering the flooding in Oklahoma. The footage of the helicopter rescue was something else. I hope those two folks are OK. I was also impressed by the guys in the red bass boat who rescued the one guy from the roof of his house. Boating across those flooded fields was pretty commendable. Wingdams and stumps don’t seem as bad compared to submerged cars, railroad tracks, fences, road signs, etc.
