I think some of the Cubby fans out there would agree with that. I’m huge Cubs fan, I’m hoping they can shed that perception real soon.

Yep, they lost Soriano for 2-4 weeks, that should even things up a bit for the Brew Crew losing Sheets for about 4 weeks, should be a good battle!

ya ya blah blah blah. That is an old saying. I just keep reminding myself that the cubs have won more games than the brewers in the cubs/brewers series so far this year. The cubs will pull through without soriano. He has been useless for the last 2 to 3 weeks anyway.

Yup even more useless now that he cant play. Lead off hitter hitting .300/18 HR/18 SB. Not So Sweet Lou was whinning pretty bad about losing him. Too bad so sad. With the talent base the Brewers have I’ll take them for the next 5 years over any other team in the league even if they do end up out of it this year, more young talent on that team than any I can remember, it will be fun to watch the Cubs try to continue to outspend them….

If the Brewers have many more colossal collapses like yesterday, they may just sink themselves. I wonder why they seem to go in the tank every time after they score alot early, the bats just go silent. But hey, it’s just nice to have a team again that is INTERESTING at the end of the year, instead of just seeing who the September call ups are.

I’d love to back you up on this one, Tom…. but I’ve been a Cubs fan since I was seven. Let’s see, that’d make it an even 45yrs. I’ve seen this hot streak a few times in the past, and I’ve seen it collapse far too often.

I’ll get excited when they’re going for their 4th win in the World Series, there’s 2 out in the 9th for the other team, a 3-2 count on the batter…. the next pitch is a slider painting the outside corner, and it freezes the batter who was expecting an inside fastball. Oh, and did I forget to mention that the Cubs are up by 15 runs?

Do I want them to win? Of course. Do I expect them to win?

As a LONG suffering Cubbie fan, I’d like to engage in the “my team is better than yours banter”, but my heart isn’t in it. It’s too bruised and battered from years past. I still have nightmares of Steve Bartman stealing that out from Alou and the cubs in 2003. Oh, my pain!

Soriano’s injury hurts. He should have been taking days off like Lou wanted him to do. He also shouldn’t have tried to stretch it to third base on Theriot’s single with two outs and Derek Lee coming to bat.

While the Cubs are entertaining this year, I don’t think they have the complete package needed to go to the WS, even if they make they playoffs. But, as we’ve seen, anything can happen in sports.

The Brew Crew… I’ll try to let the Wisconsinites enjoy their team for a while. It’s actually nice to see the Brewers put a decent squad together. They’ve played well but I don’t see them going anywhere but down. If they manage to win the Central, they’ll most likely be swiftly dismantled by the Mets or Braves. Can you imagine the Brewers representing the NL in the Series. Come on. Even the baseball gods aren’t that sick and twisted.

So, instead of “my team is better than yours”, I’ll go with “my team, like yours, won’t be going to the Series any time soon”. You’re welcome to share our team motto, “Wait until next year”.

Bartman………….. not the reason the Cubs lost, just another excuse why the Cubs lost.

The bright side is it will be entertaining with Lou if the Cubs do melt down again.

I’ll admit that I am a life long Cubbie fan. It is hard not to like the loveable losers. However this year might just be different. I was watching Sports Center the other day and they agreed that the Cubbies would win the central division. They came to this decision based on the strength of the starting rotation which is the best I’ve seen in the Cub organization in my 50 years. They stated that pretty much all the great teams from the past that had one thing in common and that was the strength of their starting rotation which is something the Cubbies have this year. Much better than Milwaukee’s starters according to the talking heads on ESPN. It all doesn’t matter unless somebody lets the goat into Wrigley as that is the only thing that will break the curse. I’m afraid that if the Cubbies do make it to the World Series that the end of the world is just around the corner. It has to be a sign of the end.

Oh Please!!! We’ve waited for 25 years to brag up our team a bit and when we do we’re “Bandwagon Jumpers” One thing about our fans in Wisconsin, “WE ARE” true to our teams win or lose!

With a healthy Sheets and Gallardo at the top of the Brewers rotation, that’s a pretty good 1-2 punch for the playoffs, if Sheets can come back in time to get into the playoffs. Suppan is a guy who has performed in the playoffs, and Capuano can pithc at times.

The bigger worries for the Crew is the bullpen and hitting in the clutch.

What happened to their 10.5 game lead they had less than a month ago??? The Brewers have not played anywhere near the level of the Cubs for over a month…We’ll see who ends up on top in October…I’ll take the Cubs pitching staff(2nd best ERA in the majors) to be the biggest factor…

As a Brewers fan, I am afraid to say that they just do not have the pitching to keep them in games. The hitting is starting to come back around, but yesterday was the 2nd game in a week that a 5 run lead was blown.

You guys have to remember one thing- its a very, very long season, leads get shrunk, teams ebb and flow, leads grow. Its a marathon not a sprint, thats what makes baseball great. Its kinda hard to pretend through 162 games. Now lets see, 50 years ago the Braves brought a championship home to Milwack-ee, 25 years ago the Brew Crew came within a bad call in game 6 of bringing home a Championship. That leaves us with this years Brewers. Let the home stretch begin….. …after this year well have to wait another 25 years for something so give us just a little slack

That’s right, nearly ONE HUNDRED YEARS without a World Series Championship.

I challenge anyone to top that.
