What in the world were they thinking? Sounds to me that they’ve thrown in the towel for this year. I loved watching him at 2nd.

It seems that the twins are always looking to the future…then you don’t have to write the check now!

He would have been eligible for free agency after the season. He would have been gone anyway. Why not get something for him while they can? He has a ok avg. but for a lead off hitter, very few stolen bases and very few walks and that’s what a lead off guy needs to do. Not to mention he’s not getting any younger. Don’t get me wrong, I liked him as our 2B defensively and think he has a ok bat, just not worth keeping around with free agency right around the corner, at least now they get a few prospects for him. The twins always seem to have a way of putting together a solid team, for a small market team they’re doing what they have to do.

I think that’s safeto say when they are struggling at the plate, and trade away a .300 hitter. hopefully this means that Slowey is on his way up and our young pitching staff will finish out the year and take the beating they need to so they can get better.

I don’t buy that, they’re only 7 games out with many games left in the season, they just had the all star break. They gave up a avg. lead of guy, not like they gave up Justin or Joe. They can still make a run, just won’t be with Castillo.

July 31, 2007 at 1:30 am #595470I understand he was up for free agency, but why not get a bat for him? Instead we get a couple guys that never played a MLB game? I hope they do turn out to be decent prospects, but I liked our chances of making a run better with Castillo at 2nd. Just my 2 cents!
nick4rmthelagoonPosts: 13July 31, 2007 at 1:49 am #595479i also think we should have gotten someone with a nice bat instead of a couple of minor leagers but hey what can we do
July 31, 2007 at 1:55 am #595480Definitely like to keep him, he’s proven. Unfortunately free agency prevents it in this case, unless they were prepared to offer up the big bucks. The may make a trade or two yet before tomorrows deadline? We’ll see. I still have hopes for the season. Not all’s lost, knock on wood, we’re winning without Castillo tonight, so far, so good. The bench is solid, hopefully they can take up the slack and make a run!

July 31, 2007 at 2:25 am #595485good guy bad knees…but I believe the clubhouse is pissed! Looks like I will not be watching the t-wolves. KG is gone!? So much for Glen Taylor and his spin.
July 31, 2007 at 2:50 am #595493Better to get something for him now. The drop at 2b won’t be that bad, we’ll get Cuddyer back, who knows, you can’t quit on this team.
I am ok with it.

I’m OK with this his bad knees and 6 million dollar salary along with less then stellar numbers nine stolen bases in 13 attempts and just 29 walks in 349 at-bats with 11 doubles, three triples and 18 RBIs, throw out the average these are brutal numbers for a $6,000,000 second base men.
It is a little frustating from the team standpoint but Ryan has a Job to do and business model to follow.
There is no way we could resign him with the money we will be dishing out in the future.
He’ll fit in well in NY^.July 31, 2007 at 2:57 am #595495I think the ‘wolves’ are going to be going back on the endangered species list!
July 31, 2007 at 11:04 am #595542I have to side with Bird dog on this. He was going away anyhow. Sounds like Castilla is going to be the one called up. If I remember right he’s fast and play’s good Defense too.
July 31, 2007 at 11:06 am #595543Not a huge loss at all! Good guy yes good ball player? Maybe. Worth 5.7 million HELL NO! Give a young guy a chance!
But I hope it is a step in the right direction. Next up on the chopping block should be KUBEL, CIRRILLO (sp?) and WHITE. Stop the pain please.
