A new Cummins might just be in my future…. But I still like my old one…

Looks like the bar has been raised.

I will admit I like the cummins but am not a dodge fan at all but I have to give them a . My first impression is trade all my vehicles in on new dodges but that old saying still sticks “nothing is free” I would like to look at it closer to see if there are any loop holes. Like maybe adding acc. will cancel it such as a plow in my case. Even so very impresive I hope others follow

i have been a mechanic on and off for the last 7 years, and my dad has bean a mechanic for 30 years. i have never had any interest in buying any chrysler vehicle because of my experience. but if this is true, it would be hard not to buy a new 3/4 ton diesel pickup(or any other for that matter) a new chrysler. if they realy warranty everything, why not buy a pile of crap chrysler???

I sure could use it right now- – seems every year it’s about $2500 worth of repairs. Not the best choice on my part- – -jerr

My dad always told me I was welcome to come visit anytime, if I ever owned a Chrysler to just park in the street. (He was a mechanic for Ford.)

    I drive a ’03 GMC Sierra with 280,000 miles.

    and your point is………….

My point is, these threads start out innocent enough, then someone with an almighty opinion, has to call something crap. Show me a vehicle manufacturer, that doesn’t put a service department on their dealerships, then you might have room to talk. BTW , there are Chrysler vehicles with a million miles plus on them… 280,000, thats what alot of the Fed Ex Sprinters we work on have on them in 4 years ??? You must be posting from the road….

Anyone else thinking there HAS to be a catch to it? Or, are they just relying on someone not owning the vehicle until it is a rusty bucket? I see it only applies to the orignal buyer and is non-transferrable.

Historically, new car buyers, across all brands, own their vehicles an average of 38 months. This is everyones target audience. The manufacturers, like Chrysler used to have, with the 5 or more years, 50,000 or more mile powertrain warranties, are really just helping out the used car buyer, which is not their intention. Let’s face it, manufacturers want to sell new cars and parts, and the parts not to themselves… What this warranty will capture, is the guy who wants to buy a vehicle, and run it for a long time. It is for original owner only, and you must show proof (via insp.) of your maintaining the vehicle every 5 years. The insp. is no cost to the owner. The vehicle may rust away to nothing, have all the interior power features worn out, but the drivetrain will still be warrantied

No Cummins and no SRT’s. After that, what is there left worth buying at Chrysler?

Also the warranty only applies to the original owner. It does not transfer over to a second party

To knock this announcment and think that one US auto maker is that much better than the next is nothing short of ignorance. The, “it’s only the original owner” argument isn’t a really a good one. I don’t own a chyrsler, I have owned GM and Ford, both new rigs, both had problems, some were expensive fix’s. Chrysler comes out with a ground breaking warranty and still bashers…of course? I say good for us, meaning you and I, that a auto maker will come out with a warranty such as this. It’ll only cause the other auto makers to follow suit. With the amount of engineering and testing that goes into ALL new vehicles from all U.S. auto makers, this argument can be made…they’re ALL junk or they’re all quality, take your pick.

BIRDDOG, my point exactly. I recall reading Chrysler crap… kind of hits home, when you spend the majority of your life working with them. I too believe they are all glass, plastic, rubber and metal, and man made. This will just force the other auto makers to come to the dance. Remember employee pricing by GM, they all followed in short suit.

It will be interesting to see who all goes over to Mopar from other manufacturers, Mopar sales will be up. However, existing Mopar owners will get new vehicles and keep them longer than they normally did, thus decreasing sales for Mopar. Someone in the big office has this one figured out. Excellent warranty and in 20-30 years we can see what folks have for milage on their vehicles, who knows, they might have commercials on the high milage ones.
