Difference in LED lights?

Hey everyone. I plan on installing night/fishing lights in my new boat. I have some extra orange/amber LED trailer lights in my garage that I could use (cool – all I need now is some dry ice and to air guitar my fishing rod). Here is my question. Is there a difference between the LED trailer lights I have and the fancy shmancy LED lights I see installed on the new boats? I know there are different shapes, different colors, waterproofing and different sizes but my biggest fear is having my light shine in a hard beam vs a nice glow that would flood the floor of my boat. I would like to use the trailer lights since I already have them but I am not sure if they would give the good glow. I am not sure if the marine LED lights give a good glow either.

    Anyone with recommendations/ideas?

hook them up to a 12v system in a dark garage and see how well it lights up the floor

I use LED trailer lights to light the in side of my cattle trailer they work real well as long as you dont have the brake light wire hooked up that is way to much light.I replaced the factory white with amber.I would be incline to think with the right placement they would do the job.

There are differences in led bulbs, but I think those would work just fine, myself I don’t find I want a ton of light at night, just enough to make my way through the boat, I use flashlights and/or cap lights when I need more light. I was thinking about robbing my rope LED lights of my my fish house, but that may be too much light, with too much light you get tend to get some bugs. But it might be nice when landing a fish or something.
