Ok I have a 99 Jimmy 4.3 Vortec. It devoloped a major water leak on the left side up front someplace. Gut tells me waterpump but dont leak like a GM water pump. Cant see where the leaks coming from but runs out as fast as you pour it in. What should I be looking for on that side ?? Just a gasket on the pump maybe?? Thanks

intake manifold gaskets on the 4.3L are notorious for leaking.

this leaks while not running. I can see the intake its not that. Its lower, has to be the left gasket on the pump or frost plug?

Check the heater hose adapter nipple… The heater hose clips into it. They’re made out of cheap pot aluminum, and common to “rot” out and leak. It will break off, and you will be cutting it out and tapping the intake. Tedious, time consuming job, but with a couple tools, won’t be a problem.

That’s a stumper! It leaks out with the truck off?

My dad’s 98 5.7 pulled that on him, only leaked when the truck was off. Replaced water pump and it was fixed. Then a couple years later the radiator started leaking along with the quick connect heater hose adapter on the intake

All GM’s actually plastic gaskets suck!

Pressure test and look for the leak.

Well finaly got enough stuff out of the way to see and it was the intake gasket. Looks like my trucks down till weeks end now , dealer cant get to it till Thurs. Sometimes I miss my old school 350’s at times like this.
