Bellevue Motel Being Built

I heard yesterday that a new motel is being built north of town. This isn’t the condos that are being built where the Harbor was tore down, but farther north. Can anyone confirm that?

It was cheaper for me to stay at the Harbor than drive back and forth. I’m planning on staying in Maquoketa, if they aren’t building a new one. Savanna rapes you, and those rabble rousers in Dubuque scare me. Actually both Savanna and Dubuque are farther than I want to drive, if I’m staying over.

I was in Bellevue last week and drove up to see what is going on at the old Harbor hotel spot. I didn’t see another hotel being built, but I didn’t go any farther north.
Those condos WOW they want 285,000 and they don’t look that nice. I don’t know if they have sold any.
We trolled leadcore, caught a few walleyes, then drifted a clam bed with a crawler and had a riot catching 9& 10 lb carp and sheephead. Man did they slam the jig.

I used to go up to bellview once in awhile to watch the barges go through the locks there. Because of the wingdam thats down river on the east side bringing big tows through the locks is often a recableing event. When they get the barges cabled together and head down river they sometimes really put on a show with the propwash coming over the sides of the locks. When they bring the front of the tow up river against the flow of the miss. they really hit the diesels for about 15 minutes bringing the front of tow up river against the flow from the dam. Seen once where the whole downtown of bellview was filled with diesel smoke, that night was a really good show! Bellview is a good lock to watch the barges go through.
