my buddy has a merc xr6 150 on a 1850 sporthawk. he doesn’t think he is running enough rpms. i believe he is running a 14.5×21 pitch prop he also has a 14.5x 19 pitch he says it just doesn’t seem right with either prop. what does everyone else run? thanks in advance

Never heard of anybody running under a 19 in.

I was turning 5800 with a 21p Tempest s/s and 6000 with a 19p High-5 with that motor on a Alumacraft 185. (Similar boat, aluminum, full windshield, ect.) The high-5 prop provided a lot of bow lift, the 21p was the fast prop.

I think Jon Jordan might of ran this motor and is what I consider a prop GURU. He might be able to help. I will send him a PM.

If your buddy wants to spin either of these props, shoot me a PM. Maybe we can meet up. Both are just sitting on the shelf…..

after talking to him a little more i don’t think it is the prop. he told me he is olny getting 4800 rpm’s so i told him to change his plugs and clean his carbs and see if that helps. thanks for the response. thanks for the offer jon, i will pass on the info and see what he wants to do.
