I was very blessed a couple of weeks ago with a new Alumacraft 185. I have been out rigging or fishing most evenings. I would really like to hear your input on what is in your on board tool kit.

    Thanks for your input.

I have a small stanley socket set in both 3/8 and 1/4, a reversable screwdriver that has the bits that you just flip over to get a bigger one and a smaller one, I also have a first aid kit, completely loaded, aslo a plier, wire pliers, some butt connectors for electrical with some tape, if you can make a small little spot for it, you should have what ever you can think about, but that should about cover it.

personally i have a couple zip ties, a cresent wrench,a vice grips, a set of screw driver bits that include drivers up to 9/16 and the metric counter part ( they come in a nice blow molded box), electrical tape and then of course the hook pliers will always double for any trouble you may have. the spare fuses and shear pins and the like are model specific. all in all it fits in a 1 foot x 5 inch hole.
in my opinion if it requires more than that to get you to to the landing your in some deep doo-doo.

All good suggestions. I’d also consider a good plug wrench. With my outboard, the plug wrench also is the right size for the prop nut. A small tube of RTV for temporary leak repairs. Black electrical tape.

This wouldn’t necessarily have to be kept in the boat….but I won’t go anywhere without my Leatherman. I can’t rememeber the last time 24 hours went by and I didn’t need it.

    Congrats on the new boat!

Hey guys how about extra fuses for your electronics, extra batteries for your flashlights/ head lamps, and duct tape being u can fix about anything with it.

I don`t normally cary them in my boat, but a pair of jumper cables in the truck. I would rather run back for a pair of jumpers then have to tow a boat all the way in.
