    Drew,
I’ve got one that is the 2005 model year. It has been a wonderful motor. Never had a problem, in now almost 2 years of having it. very smooth, quiet, and reliable.

    It’s been perfect for me.

I just bought a skeeter zx 1775 with a ’05 yamaha 4 stroke and wondered if I had enough motor? Anything special I need to know about running a 4 stroke vs. a 2 stroke? What brand of oil do you run in yours?

I can not answer the ques about the Skeeter, and whether this motor is enough motor. there should be a placard in the boat that says what the max hp rating is for the boat. I’d say if this F115 is within say 20 horses of the rating, that you should be fine. If the rating is up near 150 or over, then the F115 would be a little light for the boat.

As far as oil is concerned, I put in the Yam oil that the dealer recommends and filter. I would definitely use a marine 4 stroke oil, do not use auto oil in it. there are additives in the marine oil, that are not in auto oil, that you need in a marine engine.
    good luck,

    and Welcome to IDA…

I had one on my 01 Mr Pike, bought in Sept of 00, never a issue. Just run either Yamaha Ring Free or a Sea Foam to keep the injectors clean. Prop it so it runs in the upper end of the pwer band, closer to 6000 rpm. you will see around 40 or so on a gps.

As far as oil, I ran AMsoil synthetic that was made for marine/small engines

I bought mine in 2000, you can’t ask for a better motor, I did have a dirty fuel system problem but thats it, gets used every day from April until October, I’ld buy another in a blink if I had to.
