I took my 2 year old son Caden to a local pond yesterday so he could try to catch some fish.He calls them “ish”,and loves to look at them in the live well and on T.V..Cade had fun on our little fishing outting and we even got a few gills and perch for him to look at.I released the first one we caught and boy did he cry.So after that I had to put the fish in a bucket for him.Thought you Grand-pa’s,Dad’s and future Dad’s would get a kick out of this picture..

Ryan, great to see a proud papa taken the youngsters fishing! My daughter Carinsa (she’s the cute one next to the goofy-looking guy in my profile pic) also call them “ish”. It was one of her first words spoken. Keep getting those three boys out there fishing and thanks for reminding us of what’s important in life!

As a Minnesotan who still calls Iowa home my memories of fishing with my Dad on the Mississippi are the greatest memories I have. No one in the world loved to fish more than my Dad did and no one in the world enjoyed fishing with his 3 sons than my Dad did. I hope that I have passed that love of fishing on to my children and that I have the opportunity to pass it on to my grandchildren.
My Dad had a saying (he has many) that I would share with your “Fishing enhances character – catching fish enhances life” He was a great believer that fishing was as much or more fun than catching fishing. That is the message I hope my children and your children learn as they fish along side of you.

I have a 3 year old son who enjoys fishing and wildlife spotting from the boat. He also loves fish in the livewell, and every fish we catch he says- “Daddy, should we measure him?” then kisses it and as i release it says “Go get your mama” (I think this was an old 3 stooges skit where the fish kept getting bigger each time he said this). The outings dont usually last too long before we have to go swimming or turtle/frog/bird watching. It is a blast having them grow up and enjoy the outdoors.

The high lites of my summer have been fishing with my kids. A few weeks ago was the first trip with my 2 year old girls. One caught a sunnie and the other caught a weed. They where both very excited.
My 6 year old son is having a great third year on the river. He boated a nice 26″ eye last week. I was busy hauling in the small fish on the other line. After his big fish his arms got sore so he let me haul in most of the other fish while he drove the boat.
One of the best fishig experinces I have had with my kids was the first time john woke me up one morning and said lets go fishing dad. That will defently put a smile on a guys face>
