With the slot changing to keep 14″ to 16″, how many people will still be making the trip? I will since as long as the pole bends and there is a fish on the other end it will be great. The landings may not be full all the time now.

As soon as my life settles down after FLW Bemidji, I’ll be heading back. After being up there for the league event, fishing for 3 days and keeping zero of the dozens upon dozens of fish we caught, I could care less about tightening of the harvest slot.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN!!??!?!!? Smallmouth Bass…The other, other white meat. Rock Bass………the other, other…..other white meat. I can’t wait to tear into one of those with a 1/2oz spinnerbait and a 5″ grub.

I’ll be there next weekend too and more than likely dining at Hunter’s Point for dinner.

For all I care it could be just catch and release. How many other lakes in the state can you go and catch as many fish and have the size quality as mille lacs . If I want some for a meal then I will go to a lake that I can keep them or maybe the river. I think the DNR is doing a great job with the lake. I look to see Leech as the next lake to be as good as mille lacs.

I’ve never tried the cajun chicken sandwich there. I might have to give it a try. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Can’t wait to get up there to pound on both the eyes and smallies. And who knows, maybe even harrass a couple of ski’s. FYI, The muskies have been showing themselves on the rocks.

I agree with the folks who fish for sport and not for the meat(fish).Up at Mille Lacs a couple of weeks ago and we each (6 of us) got a meal and ate a Georges–( Spaghetti Special of all things)
Addl note. Was fishing panfish in Western Wisc this past week, and guys including myself & family were returning the 10 inch sunfish to the lake. And there were lots of them.

well hey i dont see how anyone would be able to conplain about the slot change, now all those guys doing it just for the meat will have a tougher time getting their limit. which in turn means having a great excuse to tell the wife that he has to fish more.

I’m taking my father up on Friday.
Yea, maybe if we are lucky, we’ll bring 2 or 3, maybe 4 keepers home to fry up.

    But who cares…..
There just aren’t too many places to catch a dozen or three fish between 20-27 inches!!!!!

Heading up on Wed. for an all dayer. Could care less about bringing any home. The chance of getting a pig is so great that it is worth the trip.

    Plus Crappies taste better

It will not stop me form hitting it when the water turns hard!
