I was contemplating upgrading my boat from my current mirrocraft 16′ single console to a 18′ lund tiller. The problem is, I’m not very fond of the current engine options available.

I think I’ve found a solution. Here is the hypothetical ???

Do you think they’d sell me a 1800 explorer tiller with a 5hp (yes FIVE Horsepower) merc?

Why would you only put a 5hp on that boat? I have any 1850 crestliner & my t8 will only push it max 5mph. That would make know since putting 5hp tiller on that size boat.

How about a 2006 Lund 1800 Pro V tiller fully rigged boat with 90hp Etec and Johnson four stroke kicker demo boat? Black with gray carpet [snap in I think] with color locator up front and color gps/locator combo in back and front 24 volt trolling motor in front and Eagle bunk trailer. VERY nice boat. I’ve fished out of it several times and loved it. Call Ken or Bill at Smittys Marine in Lake City 651-345-3990.

    Thanks, Bill

They will sell you anything you want, regardless if it makes no sense. Don’t expect much resale on an 18′ boat with a 5hp outboard, though. I would assume you have a powerplant that you’ll be keeping and installing on the new rig?

I’m guessing he would buy and older engine or convert his current engine?

I just priced a new 2010 pro-guide with a 150 hp yamaha four stroke, I could get ANY motor I wanted on any Lund boat. FYI the 150 yamaha four stroke was cheaper than the 175 merc 2 stroke and the 140 suzuki. All the hub ub about only putting mercs on them is bs. The right dealer can do anything and still keep the price in line. Adam

I would want a 5hp tiller on that boat because the dealers up my way will ONLY put a Black motor on it. I will not own a black motor, therefore If they woould put the 5hp on it, I could dump it about 20 min’s later at the Evinrude dealer for a 90-130 tiller.

Tillers need no pre rig for controls, so why would it matter? You should be able to put any color on it.
    Just curious.

Ask is the 18 foot Lund comes with oar locks…

I’d think you could just buy the boat, then get a motor at another dealer, getting the motor you want.

I was under the impression that you could get a Honda pre rigged from Lund.

You might have a hard time finding someone to put a motor bigger than 90 on that rig.

    Nice set up though.
