Air Ride seat question

I am looking at some air ride setups for sale, and have some questions.

I know there are a lot of styles, I want something that will ease the big water ride, in heavier winds. There are Glyde rides, air rides, etc. What do you all recommend? I am not rich, but don’t mind paying a little extra to be comfortable, with a bad back, on the rough rides. How hard is it to add pedestal bases into a lund pro-v 1900? Thanks, WTA

    Whitetail,

My dad had these same “air ride” seats and they wore out rather quickly.

    They are SOLD anyway.

The 2 I have in my boat now have worked perfectly for over 3 years, thats why bought the SAME ones I just SOLD for a boat I was restoring.

I would avoid redoing your bases if they are still in good shape and are sturdy.

WTA, I have moved my bases around in my boat, when I put a new floor in. I would imagine, yours are just screwed to the floor like most. Shouldn’t be too hard, although I know I did snap off a few screw heads, cause they were in so tight. I am not sure what brand my seats are, I know they are not Air ride seats, but I would also be interested in hearing how well they work. My back is not getting any younger… I know the screaming deal for 3 that was on here are sold, but I know Overtons has a bunch of different ones too. Some are air, some are coil springs, some are shocks. For that kind of cash, it would be nice to know what your getting first.

It would be interesting to know how much the seat could make a difference. I know the Lund Pro V seats aren’t as comfortable for me as the cheaper seats found in the Lund Explorer. Lund also has a nice captain’s chair, but its hard to tell how they ride ’til you get in the rough water. What are the comments on different seats for you folks out there?

I love the Ranger SRS seats I have in my 620. You can definitley feel the suspension in the seats. Very comfy in big water.

I have had some experience with these seats. I have only used the smooth move seat mounts. They are a spring suspension type. They have done wonders for myself while traveling across lake pepin in some pretty nasty winds. (close to 4-5 footers). That was during a tournament so we wernt taking our time and still took a little beating but it sure made it much more nice.

Hope that answers some of your questions.

Just hollar if there is anything else.

How would some of these seats fair with holding my big up lol I have thought about getting some of the air rides or a spring style for pepin so i do not walk around for 3 days like I have a shoe up my from hitting the rollers and big waves wide open.

I know the smooth move ones have an adjustment on them for weight but I dont know what the range on them is I will look into what it is for ya though. The way it works is the heavier the lb setting you turn it to the tighter the spring is so you wont bottom out or it wont be to stiff.

I will let you all know what I find out, or if someone else knows please jump in and clue us all in. Thanks.

If you get the chance, check out Lake Tamer SUspension Seats. They are top of the line in suspensions and very affordable. A pair goes for around $500. You can see them at http://www.laketamer.com.

My Explorer came from the dealer with the Springfield Air rides in it. They’re the pressurized piston style. I wouldn’t buy another boat without them. I’ve used them for 3 years and haven’t had to replace one yet. Being a big guy, I’m surprised they’ve lasted as long as they have, given the beating they’ve taken

I’m 270# and I fished with Scott Fairbairn on Pepin during the FLW.He has the Smooth Move seats and let me tell you..I’m glad he did! What a huge difference for me. Better hang on cuz it’s like a circus ride! I think I only grounded out 1 time!

Now this is a true suspension seat. Looks like the Smooth Moves setup. Looks like a great product I’m going to look into purchasing.
