Any suggestions on how to ship my broken Avid to Park Falls ? The rod has a bad guide and I’m looking to get it fixed. I have all of the information on where to ship it, just looking for ideas on how to get it there – what type of shipping materials, etc… I’m guessing there are a few experieces with this on this site.

Any ideas on the turn around time?

You could always drop it off at Evert’s with Dean, and have him send it in with the Rep when he comes down.
That is what I have done…
Check with Dean…I do not want to put words in his mouth. Maybe he has a better suggestion.

Here is a link to their Warantee/Service page…

    St. Croix rods

There is also a toll free ph# under “contact us”…call first and talk to the service dept. A guide replacement is usually $5 plus shipping…depending on your warantee status and model. The turn around is usually 7-10 days tops. Although right now they are retooling for new model changes…

I saved my rod mailing tubes from the days that I would order rods through a major mail-order retailer …now I save myself the trouble and buy all my rods from Everts. Those rod tubes work well for sending rods up to Park Falls.

I’d guess that you’re looking at 10-14 days turnaround time. The upcoming holiday may lengthen that just a bit.

The place I work for makes boxes and such. I’m sure I could find a nice tube laying around somewhere. Let me know.

If you ask nicely, you can get a used shipping tube from the local retailers also…

FYI to IDA members… I called St. Croix this morning and for guide repair, you can simply contact a member of Rod building.org and they can fix your rod and it DOES NOT void your warranty. $7-10 to fix the guide and a quicker turn around time .

Why don’t you just take it Thorne Bros in Fridley and have it fixed. Probably cost you around $10 and you will have it back in a couple days.
