Ok, so went fishing this weekend on the ‘sloppy…read the story a couple months ago about the bass who took too big of a fish and was rolling in the water…cool story I thought…
So I’m dock fishing as usual when off to my right was a fish on the surface…happens all the time….
5 minutes later, same thing only closer….
10 minutes later, same thing, only about 10′ from dock…I saw this nice bass and I noticed something wrong…had a fish in his mouth….
this kid Jordan was chatting with my kids, so he ran to the edge of the dock and I told him to grab the fish….wow…came right out with no fight….Jordan tried removing the bluegill, no luck, so I went over with my needlenose and gave it a shot…dorsal fin was stuck through the basses mouth pretty good along with one of it’s fins…..worked a couple minutes to remove the spikes, gave it a shake over the water, a ploooosh…off the bass went like a shot…bluegill was wiggling too, but a few seconds later, he was floating…didn’t make it…thought better about CPR though…..here are a couple of POOR pictures (sorry, was a cell phone camera, and near dark, but if you look closely, you can see the tail coming out of the mouth.
Something my kids will always remember, have been talking about it all weekend….pretty cool story I think
