Wouldn’t it be cool to have such an award.I have a personal goal of 6 benchmarks. 1= 10 inch sunfish, 2= 20 inch smalmouth, 3= 30 inch Walleye-Laketrout 4= 40 inch Northern or catfish 5= 50 inch Muskie ,6 = 60 inch gar or sturgeon.I personally have 3 of six goals achieved. How about the rest of you? It would be nice to have a multi-species contest. What do you think?KD

The past 2 years my goals were to catch a Smallie at or over 20″, a largemouth over 21″, a northern over 40″, a 10″ bluegill, a 14″ crappie (my biggest is 15″ but it has been so long since I have caught a good one like that)
I managed to get my smallie early last year and it was prespawn at that which probably made that fish go 5 lbs. I still haven’t gotten that largemouth over 21 but numerous 20″ fish and one 20-1/2″er. The pike fell last summer and went 43″ long. The panfish are where I struggle the most I guess. Maybe it is because I only target them for one short period of the year, and that is through the ice. The 10″ gills are around where I fish, just haven’t caught one myself yet.
I agree I think it would be kind of cool to have a contest.I haven’t been around here much lately, nor have I seen much activity. Wouldn’t be a bad idea to help liven things up a bit..

I used to have the same goals about 7 yrs ago. Since, i have been so fortunate that it hasn’t even been funny. Right now, my personal best “Bull” Bluegill is 11 5/8, Crappie is 17.5″, MN Largemouth of 23″, Smallie of 20.5″, 31″ Walleye, and a 48″ Muskie. My goal is a 40″ Northern and a 2 lb Perch. The only thing I can tell a person is to fish as much as possible and go to lakes that produce big fish. The funny thing about these fish is that I heard the big ones were biting and went ASAP. Don’t take chances when you hear they are biting. Get on the lake/river right away.

My “best” list is a 27″ Eye, 42.5″ Northern, 14″ crappie, 15″ perch, 23″ Smallie. 12′ Tiger shark, 20 lb yellowfin, 22 lb dorado (dolphin) 30 lb grouper.

But I keep fishing for the fun, not the numbers.

I have caught 40 inch northerns in Canada but was wondering of a good place besides Red Lake in Mn to capture a 40.I am 2 inches short of the Muskie mark also and the Sunfish came when I was a 12 year old boy and caught a monster on the chip.
