I’m heading to Red Lake, Ontario next month and plan on taking salted minnows along. I’ve taken salted minnows across the border before (about 7-8 years ago) and didn’t have any problems then. I’ve heard mixed results in recent years. Have any IDA’ers or someone you know taken them across this year? I’ve emailed the Canada Border Patrol, but haven’t heard back yet.

Looks like you are still OK, have fun up there. We used to go to Medicine Stone Lake and Jubilee Outposts before it was sold. Awesome fisheries, there is also a secret lake up there that the guy who owns the baitshop in town has a cabin on, HUGE muskies in it, and lots of them. Still trying to find time to get back up and give them another run.

BTW, I thought the drive from MPLS was long, are you really coming from TX?

Thanks for the link! We fly out of Red Lake and go 50 miles NW. It’s hard to beat 50-100 fish days. Yes, all the way from Texas, about 10 miles north of the US/Mex border to be exact. I’m flying to WI to meet family, then driving the rest of the way.

Enjoy the 12 hour drive, bring a trivial pursuit deck… and a lot of quarters!!! It helps!
