North Shore info

Wondering if I can get a list of lakes in the Schroeder, tofte, grand marais area. Gonna be camping up n down the shore in early july, and I assume the BIG lake wont be producing, so I’d like to drive to other local lakes for some shore fishin, any help???

There is a ton of lakes to try up and down the trail! If I were you I would hit a bunch of them if you have time!!!
Grab some crawlers and leeches and hit er hard!

Just talked to my buddy who lives in Grand Marais today. Water temp is at 37 degrees on the surface! They are looking at breakers coming in over the break wall today with 7′ to 11′ seas! Thats not helping the water warming up at all! They have boated 1 and only 1 trout so far. The wind has been out of the east for the majority of the month May. Bad news for charter boats and commericial fisherman………….

Im really looking more for specific lake names that I can look up on the Lakefinder…

I have fished a ton of lake in that greater area.. It seems most have something to offer.

Try using the DNR recreation compass to locate lakes.. zoom in on the area and yu should be able to bring up some info on many to help you.

Pick up a Sportsman’s Connection Fishing Map Guide. Either the St. Louis County or Arrowhead region.

Little Iron Lake is about 45 minutes West of GM (directly south of Loon Lake) right on the Gun Flint. It’s a small lake with plenty of pike and a few walleyes. Should be able to catch fish from shore but think about renting a canoe for a day.
