Anyone find a spare tire today between Lake City and Wabasha on Hwy 61. I was south bound on 61 today after an afternoon of fishing with my family when it felt like we hit something my wife thought something was wrong with the truck, I said no I think we hit a pot hole. We kept going on our way to the Pickle Factory in Pepin WI when we got there my spare tire was gone the metal bracket it was bolted to broke and the whole think fell off lock and all. I am hoping a fellow IDA member found it, I know it’s a long shot but ya never know. If not anyone have a 4 bolt ST165/80R13 they want to sell
I will post a pic of what’s left of the bracket tomorrow.

That’s a good reminder for the spring check up Steve.

I was walking around a boat a couple weeks ago at Everts and the one lug nut that was holding on a fella’s spare tire was a couple threads away from falling off. Some folks have covers on their spare tires…like me and they should be check too…

As far as your spare tire Steve, I have an extra one between my chest and belt buckle you can have.

Well my saga continues, today I had planned on heading to the lake today and take my Pastor out fishing but when I went to pull the boat out of the garage I was having a very difficult time getting the trailer to move it felt like something was blocking one of the tires. Upon closer inspection I find that one of my tires has a huge bulge in it it must have happened when my spare fell off last weekend It is hard to tell from the pic but it looks like the wheel is also angled in a bit also, I am going to have to get the axle checked out as well

So now I am in the market for two new tires ST165/80R13 and a rim if anyone knows where I could find some used ones please let me know.

Also anyone have any suggestions on where to go to have the axle checked out besides a marine dealer?

can’t help you much, but the bulge is most likely a broken belt. I went to a wholesell tire shop, which sells to the retail shops, and brought my rim/old tires in to the retail tire shop and had the new tires installed/balanced. Saved me a bundle.

Steve, Fleet Farm I have found, has the best deals on tire/rims. I would think an alignment shop could check the axle for you. Probably run you $35.00 or so to put two heads on.

PM Stanman. I gave him an extra set of rims when he bought my boat. I think they are the same size you are looking for.

Thanks John I will give him a shout
Here is another pic of the inside of the tire after I got it off the axle, you can see the bulge much better here.

Amazingly the fender is still in tack, I do not think the tire got the bulge in it until sometime after I put it in the garage as I did not notice it until a week later when I went to use the boat again.

Your spare tire busted your running tire? It doesn’t get any more ironic than that…
