Hmmmm, makes me wonder why what’s going on here, I know lots of people have had bad experinces with CP, though I don’t think there is a dealer around that hasn’t had problems with service or customer, however you want to look at it. Personnally All interactions I’ve had to date CP have been great, but I’m really bummed about them not being a Ranger dealer anymore…

( I didn’t know about this until today, there is a decent sized thread about this on Walleye Central, which I rarely visit)

I was told of this the day before is all I have to say. The reports I got direct from one of the ranger reps was there customer service rating had not made it above the 70 percentile in three years. One of them being in the 60% range. The only good thing I have ever got out of crystal pierz was price. I know quite a few others that have had nothing but good to say but I also know many that have had nothing but bad to say. I feel bad for the prostaff guys that now have some searching to do. I hope all turns out well for them. Ranger is picking up rapid sports in blaine on hwy. 65 and I think they have a place in bloomington or burnsville maybe too, not sure.

Thats odd, because R&R is/was owned by Rapid Sports Group along with Rapid Sports and Minnesota Marine.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the lines being pulled?

This really does not surprise me, as lately they don’t give a hoot about anglers. They are becoming all about the wakeboard and runabout crowd. I saw that when I bought my Stratos from them. I decided then that it would be the last boat I buy from C-P.

I bet Myron is popping a cork about now because of losing Ranger!

When will this be in affect? I have not dealt with Rapid Sports before, anyone have any info they want to share about them post here or pm me please. At least it is close to home for me.

According to the sales guy in Rogers, next week is the last of the Ranger and Stratos line, due to “The owners of C-P and Genmar bumping heads over warranty issues.”

They are picking up the Triton line as a replacement.

Like any boat dealer, you’ll hear the good, the bad and the ugly. I had a very good sales and service experience with them (Lund/Suz) and would buy from them again. They always made things right.

After a year of terrible service(04) from the crystal store I was ready to cut the cord but CP went out of the way to get us back as customers and in the process became what I felt was a top notch service dept. Rogers is close and I was extremely happy with the service from Mark Larson`and the rest of the service dept(05-present), they always stayed on top of my rig and got things done quickly and CORRECTLY! Now this??

Ya know, I had a feeling something was up last year when a girl in the service dept went cookoo on me…screaming how Ranger and CP hated each other, and how she was sick of dealing with Ranger warranty/customers. This was in front of the entire service dept and several customers a few of which were Ranger owners as well. It was a classic “meltdown”!!

After that I had a talk with a sales guy and a rep, they both reassured me that the CP/Ranger realtionship was as good as ever and there was no problems. But I still had the feeling something was up after the meltdown, people don’t bash like that without reason, especially in front of customers. So, I guess I saw this coming.

Really sucks, how is one or two stores going to keep up with additional Ranger boats coming from all the CP stores?

I have only had limited time interaction with CPM Rogers, and I can say that I’m not that impressed with Service or Parts. I could care less if they still did Ranger or not, but I’m glad that somewhere close to Home is getting Ranger.

They have done nothing but cause head aches for me in there service and there sales people are full of sh*t too. I bought a new boat last year and wow i don’t want to even tell you some of the things that have happened. I guess i will share 1 of them anyway. 04 Batteries in an 06 boat.

They really just got to big to fast.

When Myron “pierz marine” bought the Crystal name and lone store they were the best period….

With expansion and other variables comes problems…

When I brought my Statos in last fall to CP and had a question about an issue I had being covered under warranty, the service rep told me they thought Stratos would cover it. She then told me they were having the same issues with the Rangers and told me that Ranger was tough to work with on warranty issues. I told her that surprised me and that I had only heard of good things about Rangers customer service. About 6 weeks later CP calls me up and told me the Stratos rep told them my issue was caused by me and would not be covered. At the Minneapolis sportshow this spring I ran into a Stratos rep at the CP both and started to discuss my problem with him. He told me he would have been the one that would have looked at my boat and that he never was CP to look at a Stratos with the issue I had. I thought that was interesting.

Rapid should be up and runing as a ranger dealer so check them out. I have herd lots of good about them so far and havent herd any neg. so ranger must be on to some thing.

My service record at cp is like war and piece, its that thick. Problem is its only over a hand full of problems. Its had to go back 2,3,4,5 times to get the same thing fixed or I give up and fix it myself. At that point what good is a warranty. If I was ranger I wouldnt want to pay some one to fix the same thing multiple times cause they didnt get it rite the 1st 2nd or how ever many times.

Roddy I think that is how they do things up there. It is a bunch of bull. They tell you something that is totally bull. If I were you i would have made a big deal of it right then and there.

I think I will be increasing my “DISLIKE” for CPM They ordered something for me that I was told would take 3-4 days. That was 3 weeks ago. Ok, so that part could possibly not be there fault. However, I have called last Thursday, Tuesday & Wednesday this week, after sitting on hold from anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour each time and been hung up on 2 times now. All the while listening to their Phone Music and listening to them tell me how they value my free time and I’m their number one concern and their customer satisfaction is outstanding. Anyways, I was told the first time I called last Thursday it was not in, but they would call me right back to let me know what the deal was. Tuesday comes no call, so I cal them back and they say there not sure, but will find out and call me back. Wednesday no call, so I call them again and waited for a total of 1 hour and 15 minutes on hold after being hung up on 2 times, trying to get a hold of service. I finally had the receptionist tell me they are too busy and he took down my problem, name & number and said he would have service call me. Well, I’m still waiting.

Not to mention I had a problem with my Livewell, that was “FIXED” under warranty. Well they sort of fixed it, but now it just won’t hold water in it.

Stickboy and I have had very similar experiences with CP AND Ranger.

He and I have both had our boats into Crystal Marine so many times it is nuts and they have both taken back to Arkansas to the Ranger plant(his once and mine twice) and come back with the same issues or new ones. So I would guess all the warranty issues and customer service problems are not just CP being difficult with Ranger. I think Ranger can be just as difficult to work with, maybe more so since they are hundreds of miles away and you can’t talk face to face with them.

I have worked with a couple of people down at Ranger and you can’t get past them if you have issues that need to be resolved….you are stuck working with the same people getting the same results, there is no way to escalate the issue to someone that can get something done.

I love my boat for fishability and performance but the issues with the gel coat, carpet, seat bases and trailer have made it one unpleasant experience after another off the water.

People spend that much on a boat or car or whatever I don’t think it is unreasonable to ask that when something goes wrong the company fixes it back to the way it was when you bought it.

New this year…..Stickboy and I have matching cracks in our gel coats, same exact spot on both boats…..coincidence or manufacturer defect?

    Just frustrating.

I had a 2001 Ranger with an Evinrude on it that had been in
and out of CPM on and off for 3 years. And they never did know what was going on and left me hanging for months on end. Glenn can a test to all the problems. Then the one Gal worth a darn, Patty in service, they lay off? Finally got rid of it and went to Warners in Wisc. I had heard nothing but good reports about them which I can’t say about any of our Minnesota dealers.

Patty rocks!!!!! she was one the original employees from Crystal Marine, great person and employee.

Like I said earlier when Crystal Marine was just a single Dealership back in the day before Herb H sold it to Pierz it was the best around, customer satisfaction was first and foremost.

I’ve been meaning to call Herb and ask him what in the H E L L happened to the company he built into one of the best in country!!!!!

That’s her name!! I was trying to remember the lady that had the freak out, scream at customers, meltdown, that was her. Worth a darn, funny I thought the opposite?? It was only a few hours after my experience with Patty that she was “laid off”. In my talks with managment, they used the words “laid off”, loosly. She didn’t come off as having any people skills, maybe she was just having a bad day, that day.

Hopefully all will go smoothly with Rapid sport, we’ll know shortly if the problem is CP, Ranger or a combo, time will tell.

I called again and nothing could be told to me. They did not know where it was or when it would be here. He did say that it was ordered.

Guess what, they said they would call me tomorrow.

We will wait and see, but I’m not holding my breathe

You can’t be Al’s Spec from the site if you need to buy a Ranger or get service. They are top notch, I will never buy another boat from anyone else. Give Joe or Terry a call and you won’t be disappointed !
