We’re happy to announce the addition of Ryan Hale to our constantly expanding Field Staff Team. Ryan comes aboard to help us by providing coverage on some of the most popular bodies of water in IA.

A little more about Ryan, in his own words… “I’m a avid fisherman both open and hard water.I spend alot of time on the natural water lakes of NW Iowa.I also compete in the Iowa GNWC tournament series.I want to help EFN with a having a person report on the lakes in NW Iowa.

Ryan has been sharing LOTS of info with us already on the lake side and frequently posts reports and photos from Spirit and East & West Okoboji as well as many of the other IA Lakes. To see Ryan’s latest post and report w/photos, check out this link –> Perch Outing on Spirit Lake or visit the IA Lakes Forum and browse away!

Please take this time to welcome Ryan. We look forward to hearing about the hottest bites and the most productive bodies of water IA has to offer.

    Welcome Ryan!

    I have a better idea…

James has a friend with access to 1000’s of acres of private set-aside in Chickasaw Ct. down in IA. This guy has no dog. James has no dog. James has friends with dogs. James will introduce friend with land to friends with dogs as long as James gets to go hunting too!

Steve Vick and I went down there on closing day last season and kicked up 20 roosters a day w/o a dog. With dogs earlier in the season it should be a hoot.

Ryan? Steve? Sound like a plan? Can’t fish every day in the fall, can we? I’ve tried and come close.

    Congratulations Ryan!!!!!

And to the EFN staff, you chose wisely in selecting Ryan Hale to be a member of your team. Ryan is a great fisherman and an even better person. He’s always trying to help other people catch more fish and have more fun on the water.

And to members who are interested in learning more about fishing the Iowa Great Lakes, throw your questions to Ryan. He knows what he is talking about.

Again, congrats Ryan! I’m really happy for ya bud!

Ryan has a fan club already! I’m thinking maybe an opening day bird hunting for the staff and friends might be a good time.

Birds beware! I’ll get with Wayne “the land guy” and see what we can do.

Hey Ryan! I’ve liked your posts and comments…welcome aboard. I grew up pheasant hunting in Illinois. Miss those birds BAD!
I love the Ruffed Grouse & Woodcock up here in the U.P. but you’ll have to add me to the list of guys that would love to visit you this fall. Hope to see you at the BB/BS or GTG! Here’s a pic of my Vizsla “Sam”. Note the “intense” hunting posture!

So what’s the story, Vick’s dog just drives the snowplow?

My little black friend is lookin’ at me funny – I think he’s learning to read.

Man, just when I was happy with summer being here! Seeing that pic makes me wish the leaves were turnin’ and I was casin’ a gun for “parts unknown”!

Great pic with the pheasants and the whole hunting party!

1000 acres is a lot,you will need more dogs. I have a shorthair that does pretty well also. Maybe we need a new spot on the board for bird hunting

man…. this hunt should be interesting… there can sometimes be a slight conflict in styles between pointers and flushers (particularly if the points have a bit of problem with staunchness anyway!)…. I started with springers… then moved to pointers when I couldnt hold the pace with the flushers anymore… but Im afraid my old Springset Gordon setter is done as a hunting dog…. when she was young she was rarely out hunted…. I sure miss those Iowa hunting days…. and the taste of pheasant…. but fall fishing walleyes is a darn good substitute… and the ‘eyes taste pretty good too….
