Plans were made and the best of friends/family were on there way to Sparta from Whitewater for a weekend of catching up and fun. The plan was to get out Saturday and chase crappies on the Black River, well we got crappies but, we stayed right in Sparta to do it

After a night of tipping a few and laughing our butts off it started again first thing Saturday morning! After a Breakfast scrambler and a few brews, the action started right were we left off from Friday night, the decision was made to stay right where we were and do some more catching up with each other (Think When You Drink)

With Jeff and Linda not wanting to tell anyone back home they didn’t get out to fish, we started fishing!!! We were set up along a weed patch next to the gravel. The crappies were there and we had a woot

This picture is Jeff with the first fish on for the day

We learned you never know what is going to happen while fishing in a driveway. This pic is Linda with the crappie she caught. Is this a smoked fish or a smoking fish

Sorry if you don’t find the humor in this and I waisted your time

Hope everyone was as safe and had as much fun as we did this weekend
I do have a short video of one being caught, if someone could add it for me that would be great

Great report Bret- One question though, I just had a new concrete driveway poured this past week. With the cold weather we are having today I might stay close to home. Besides the what would you suggest I start with to see if I have crappies sitting on my new concrete pond?

We started off with Bailey’s in the coffee while searching for the right set up

Concrete might be a little harder on your equipment. Maybe start fishing on the break line

Clark, you are a funny man!

So crappies like the break line between the driveway and the lawn, huh? I think I’m going to head out this afternoon and flip my mailbox post and rosebushes in search of a smallie or two.

I’ve heard the curb and gutter shore lines are better for smallies.

The sewer grates work best for Walleye.

Bret you are a legend in your own mind I tried the dropoffs in my back yard after reading this but no hits – I’m trying the breaks by the wife’s flower bed berms next.
