This photo, sent out to us by “Garrison” shows Ken Hunt with a MONSTER muskie he caught over the 4th of July weekend while fishing Mille Lacs Lake. The complete story, along with another pair of photos of this great fish, are located in the Mille Lacs Lake forum at this link — > Muskies on the Mud

A huge thanks goes out to Garrison for taking the time to track down these photos and getting them out to us while the news of this great catch is still fresh. From what he tells us… Based on what we’ve learned the fish may be a Minnesota and a world IGFA line class record!

    What a fish!

Goodness! What a great fish! Hey James, is there any way I can get permission from you to post that pic on my website?

In this instance I am not able to give permission for that photo to be placed anywhere else as I am not the owner of the photo… the user Garrision is. Sorry. You could always link to the post though!

Great Fish, a little sad to see it’s still not swimming around though…….I’m wondering if with the light line she didn’t revive so well.

Definitely a great catch! I wish there was a way to register record fish without harvesting them…………but as I’ve been made to understand it, there isn’t at this time.

On the flip side, while many of us would love to know the fish is still out there, I hold nothing against anyone who chooses to keep one. “One” being the key word. The decision to go with a replica is my choice only………….but I wouldn’t get a crack at the record books for making that choice. It’d only be a “potential” record holder that inevitably someone would challenge I should’ve kept.

This is a chance to get the name in the books and for some people, that’s a dream come true. Here’s a big for possibly seeing one dream come true.

The guy may have been forced to keep it. A few years ao I caught a 22 lb Musky on six pound test line and a crawler while fishing for Walleye. It took so long to land it that once I got it to the boat there was no way I could revive it. I wonder if that wasn’t the case in this situation.
