well, I can say that I am truely proud papa today. my family went out this after noon to Coon lake, took another boat ride, well this time we got to do some fishing. I got lanes spiderman pool rigged up, I put on a minnow for him and casted him out about 20 yards away from the boat. well I got turned around and got zach’s pole ready and lane is reeling in his first fish. not a bad little crappie, but he caught this fish all by himself, no help setting hte hook or anything, I am going to try and post the pictures. also, zach reeled in his first one as well, mama had to set the hook on a little sunny, but the boys went 2 for 2 today, both bites, caught both fish. then mom broke out the munchies, they lost all interest in fishing after that.

Great job! Watching kids catch their first fish is more fun than catching 100 fish yourself.

Way to go Shane!! Great pictures!! At least you didn’t torture the boys by making them catch green carp. I have so many pictures like that of Chris when he was little but they are all on paper and none I can put up. Enjoy that age and keep fanning the flame you have started. Fishing shows rather than cartoons, reading to them from fishing magazines (Walleye Insider is a good read—Bassmaster will make them start wetting the bed again). Good to see that new boat is getting used. Your daughter is sure a cutie!

Think of all the memories they will have. Boy you wish all the parents out there could spend quality time with their kids, even if it isn’t fishing. Of course I don’t know what it would be .

the whole reason I got the new boat was for just this reason, being able to take the whole family out in something that I felt safe in. now that the kids are old enough to go for short fishing but long boat rides, it really pays off for me, I get to spend more time on the water. I have had more fun just putting around the lake looking at the shore line and hte critters around the lake than I have blasting to the next fishing spot and trying to get as much fishing in as I possibly can.

as far as them wetting the bed reading from bassmaster, not going to happen, Lane already has some critters in this tackle box, some purple/white paddletails, a couple of superdoos and some soft 4″ worms, he is all geared up to go bass fishing with dad, he wants to get that lunker with his spiderman pole.

again, thanks for letting me share this moment with you all.
