IT CAME ON LIKE ALWAYS THEN WENT OUT AFTER 10 SECONDS.NO CLOCK IS ON, NO POWER TO THE UNIT.CIRCUIT BREAKER IS OK.PLUG IN IS OK. ANY IDEAS OR DID THE DANG THING JUST GIVE OUT?

normally a microwave is only good for 5 years. I do believe that there is a breaker inside the unit.

Time for a new one if you dont have it repaired by a professional. Microwaves can knock you on your butt.. its not wise to mess with them even unplugged from what I have been told.

7 years it has probably cooked 2500 objects if you have kids.. you got your money out of it!

I’m a guy that likes to tear things apart before tossing them out…sometime I find an easy fix…other times, it just goes in the garbage.

I had a freind that was a TRAINED MICROWAVE REPAIRMAN…he died while repairing one.

A wave is the only appliance that I actually listen to the warning label.

    No User Servicable Parts Inside.

Dispose of it and get a new one. it will cost you just as much to have someone out to repair it than it would to buy a new one. It sits above the stove… it is bound to go bad with all the steam and what not rising into it.

How did this happen, did he touch the high voltage supply for the magnetron? You wouldn’t think a kitchen applicance could hurt you but I guess this goes to show you you can’t be too careful.

I think everyone is right. For what a new microwave costs you’re better off replacing it.

I’m not sure Root…it was reported that he was electrocuted while working on a microwave…one would assume so.

So the clock is out? Sounds like a little different issue than what I ran into. My above the stove unit went out a few months ago. My parents had the same issue with theres. It would start then stop, hit start again and it would go for a few seconds and then stop again. It was an issue with the latch, we opened it up (after flipping the breaker) and there were adjustments for the latch. Less than 10 minutes of trial and error and we were back up and running. I haven’t had any issues since.

I would not throw it out yet…There is a breaker in some and some a fuse but it is inside the Microwave. Ours did the same thing no power at all I took it down to get it fixed and that was all that was wrong. Why they would put a breaker inside where you can`t see it or get to it without pulling the top cover off is very stupid in my book.

Well I’m a fix it kinda a guy and just too curious to not take a peek. When smoke rolled out of my GE above the stove a few years back I pulled it apart and found the transformer bad. Sears had the part and for under a $100 I was back in service. And it didn’t even require Duct tape!!

BE VERY CAREFUL if you open it up. A magnatron typically operates at ~5600 volts. That is enough to kill you FAST!
