Did any of you guys watch this fight?

I thought De La Hoya won this fight. He was on the offensive all 12 rounds. Mayweather never took the fight to him….Still don’t understand what the judges were watching??

    Anyone? Thoughts

yeah, it should make for a great re-match. i thought De la hoya was on the offensive and Mayweather was on the defensive the whole fight. De la hoya missed alot of his punches or they were not very effective punches but i thought he should have won. That’s boxing for ya.

I’m not sure you were watching the same fight as me??
De La Hoya threw more punches and was on the offensive alot. BUT when they don’t land they don’t score points! And very few landed. Sure, some hit the shoulder or elbow and it sounded good on TV, but those don’t get any points.
Mayweather jabbed and moved…That is his style..Hit and don’t get hit. He fought a great technical fight and won. Kinda suprised it wasn’t a draw, because think of the MILLIONS$$$$$ that a rematch could make…

I thought that the judges made the right decision. Oscar wasted too much time, especially in the latter rounds, trying to back Mayweather into the ropes so he could flurry. Possibly could have worked inside more often if he would have jabbed more. Did seem like Oscar was concerned about getting tired. I don’t like Mayweathers style, in the ring or outside of it, but he’s effective at landing a high percentage of his punches. Loved the white leather sombrero—-NOT!!!

Undercard fights were boring too. Think they just wanted fighters/fights that would go 12 rounds. If there is a rematch there better be better undercard fights or I won’t spend the $55 on the PPV again.

I really wanted to watch it bad, but I was stuck at ‘work’. I listened to updates on Sportscenter radio, and they were saying the same thing as stated above, that Merriweather was landing more punches that counted, thus scoring more points. I’m going to try hard to catch a replay of it somewhere.

I believe HBO is replaying it this Saturday night. They mentioned it during the fight and I think it was right away this weekend. Good fight worth trying to catch.

I had it 7-5 for Mayweather JR.

    25 million for De LaHoya.
