I learned the hardway, Lock up your outboards, had my 25 Johnson stolen right off my boat while it was parked in my driveway right in broad daylight.

That sucks. I have dealt with it many times over the last several years… Outboards and trolling motors.

I can only suggest 2 things.. Bolt your next motor onto the boat.. harder to steal that way.

Other suggestion.. grab a cheap $30 alarm system at wally-world and put it in your boat… it will annoy you when you forget to turn it off before hitching the boat, but the alarm will sound when the boat is messed with.

Not sure if the perp will get caught, the police said they would either use it themselves or take it to a pawn shop.
Yes it sucks, because I new better just didnt take the time to
attach it the way you should, and the feeling that someone is
possibly watching your place to sieze the right time to do something like that gives one the creeps.

    That sucks.
Locks are only to keep the honest people honest. Said my sheriff Father. But alarms tend to bother crooks….A stuffed pitbull chained to the boat is the best alarm.
    Again sorry for your loss.

I had mine stolen too. I put the jon boat and motor in the newspaper to sell it and the next day the motor was gone. I called the police and they said motor thiefs look in the paper for any boat advertised then go check whats on them and how hard it is too steal what they have. Now if i want to sell one in the peper, everything that goes with the boat is in the house until i do sell it. An alarm system is a must today, i feel for ya.

If it makes you feel any better, theives took what wasnt bolted down in my boat saturday night… The gas tank!

They took it out in a very careless fashion and poured it into their vehical gas tank at the alley behind the house. They left the tank at the edge of the alley and the fittings sitting on the ground which got run over by the time I seent he tank. The cap, and the fuel pickup were both unscrewed and run over.

I guess I am switching over to a permanent tank in the boat.. I never installed the alarm in this boat yet.

Just goes to show there are too many idiots in the world.
