Photos and specs for the new Advantage V210 from G3 Boats have been hard to come by since news of the release of this new boat began to leak this past winter. Several of the In-Depth Outdoors staff members had access to the first Advantage V210 to hit the upper midwest and took the opportunity to test the capabilities of this new boat.

Until now In-Depth Outdoors was asked to keep all the photos and video taken of this new platform under wraps until the factory was ready to make an offical release.

For those that were itching to get a good look at the new Advantage V210 from G3, here’s a video clip that takes us through the major features and shows the boat being put through the paces by James Holst.

2008 Advantage V210 “Pro Tough” and Ready for Action

May 3, 2007 – Lebanon, Missouri … G3 Boats is proud to announce the creation of the newest and toughest Deep-V in their ever expanding line, the new Advantage V210. The FLW Walleye Tour is one of the most demanding and competitive tournaments on the planet. Wind, weather and waves can push even the most serious anglers to the breaking point. They depend on their boats to get them on the fish and more importantly back to the weigh-in on time. Lamarr Van Dame, Pro Team Manager for G3 Boats said: “The Advantage V210 was built with a tremendous amount of input from our Walleye Pro Staff. They told us exactly what they wanted in a boat and we built it that way from the ground up”.

Here are just a few of the things they demanded in a “Pro Tough” tournament rig. The Advantage V210 is big, strong and powerful. At well over 20 feet this is a boat that rides the waves of Lake Michigan, blasts up the Detroit River and can handle Devils Lake when the prairie winds begin to blow. With features like shock absorbing seats, a 60″ (42 Gal) rear aerated livewell with 2 oxygenators, three-36 volt trolling motor receptacles, Dual Pro battery chargers on all 5 batteries (2 crank, 3 trolling) and Sea Star power assist steering, everything is where you need it – when you need it. Placed on an attractive and durable G3 custom powder-coated 4” tubular steel trailer w/Trail Guard® space-saving security system, this is the tournament boat to watch in the future.

Available in Black/Platinum or Firemetal Red/Platinum, the new “Pro Tough” V210 is all about winning!

If you can’t do it in this boat, it is not worth doing.

Using the size of standard boat seats as a reference…look at the room between them.

This is a really nice riding boat as well!

I had the chance to put the V210 to the test (I’m actually the one driving the boat in the first pic… they captured my best side… ) and I was very impressed with this boat’s size, handling and list of available features.

The interior space made fishing 4 guys a non-issue. Even when we had all 4 guys at one gunnel casting jigs to shoreline structure… the stability of the platform kept the boat from leaning and when one of the guys moved quickly the shift in weight didn’t do anything to the others fishing… and I appreciate that level of platform stability.

The boat tracked very well in a cross-wind. I didn’t have the chance to get this boat out into BIG waves but 2′ waves were simple crushed by this hull and I was left with the impression that this boat would handle the rough stuff as well or better than the other boats in its class.

Handling was incredibly nimble. Turns were crisp and stable. This big boat was more fun to drive than I thought possible for a boat of this size.

The rod locker with the front panel that lifts with the top lid was one of my favorite features. It made getting at rods as convenient as I’ve experienced in any boat.

At nearly 21′ long storage was… impressive. I’m used to storage in an 18′ boat so I felt like there was more room than I could ever use.

The dual “switchable” 12 volt starting batteries was a safety feature I think I would grow to appreciate. I always have a pair of jumper cables in the boat and that second starting battery would nearly guarantee I’d never need them. At least not on the V210… they’d still be handy when someone else needed a jump.

I could go on and on but I’ll just let everyone judge for themselves. On monday I will be putting up a vide clip we did that covers some of the key features and handling for all to see.

Sure could use that power and comfort for tomorrow… I’ve seen what I am competing in tomorrow with today…

I think it is time for me to step up and stop wasting my time with these boats that I always say “It will do for now” because a week after owning it the phrase is changed to “I really need to go bigger and faster”..

Red Wing, MN. VERY early March. There was snow on the ground and in a couple segments we had the ice on Lake Pepin in the background.

I had a chance to climb aboard this test boat in March…the dimensions are impressive. There were also a handful of these buzzing around P4 last week during the FLW events.

Maybe one of the drivers could chime in here: what kind of top end speed do you typically see with the V210 under tournament load? High 40s? Low 50s?

We had two V210’s on display at the FLW weigh in on Saturday. It was the first time the public really got to climb around it. We had a lot of folks give the thumbs up on this model. If anyone is looking for a “Big Water” boat that has a lot of perks built into it really needs to see this boat.

Brookie, this boat being so new, guys are experimenting with different hole positions for the motor, and trying different prop set-ups. Guys are seeing speeds around 50 to low 50’s. As they play with these vaiables, expect to see that improve.

It is pretty impressive seeing the V210 screaming through the back channel.

As a side note, last year G3 had everyone involved with the Pro Team provide suggestions and recommendations as to how to improve their boats from fit and finish to hull design and structural support. The V210 was literally designed by fishermen from the ground up. If you get a chance to go through the boat, this becomes very clear, very quickly.

(Tony, my V185 will be available after October. The price is right, and it is LOADED! )

    Ride in the V210

If anyone would like a ride or a chance to see the V210 up close, please call or email me and we will try to make it happen. Our Pros drive all over the upper Midwest and they could stop to demo the boat in your area, if they are near you.

PS. It was great to meet some of the IDA guys last week. What a great bunch of guys!

Can you explain more, how the two cranking battery system works? Are guys running one battery for cranking and the other for all the electronics?

Does the main motor charge both batteries on the go?

    Also,
Is the T8 enough for this big of a rig?
Or are guys running bigger kickers? How is the T8 for backtrolling?

I’ve talked with a number of folks that are interested in the Advantage. Some just want a ride in one.

I’m wondering if we could get one to the In-DepthAngling Get ToGether. Anyone that has an interest in the Metro area could make the short trip down to Everts…for the Anglers as Role Models, the Get To Gether and a run in the V210.

    Answers to Questions

The V210 has power steering and lots of accessories to run down a single battery. G3 added a second battery and a switch to avoid running low on power and getting stranded. With two batteries you turn the switch and have a fresh battery all wired in, ready to go when you hit the switch. The main engine charges both batteries at the same time when running across the water. The V210 has a 2 bank on-board 110 charger to charge both batteries at home.

The T 8 handles the V210 just fine, WOT about 6 to 8 MPH.The guys who hand-line tell me, the boat tracks so well its hard to believe its a 21 ft boat.

Someone asked about top end speed we are experimenting with different props and have broken 50 MPH at this point, were happy and feel we may gain a little more.

The question about the weight, I think it is about 400 or 500 pounds heavier than our 18 ½ ft. boat (1800 LBS.)

We would be happy to bring a V210 to any event, please let us know and we will try to make it happen.

Are there any plans to offer this rig in something other than a full windsheild design? Thanks, Adam

Also, how does the power steering drain the battery? Just when you have the kicker linked to the big motor and the big motor shut down? I didn’t know sea star had a true power steering. Is it similar to how the Verado works (drive by wire) or how the mertens works with pressure applied to a sensor which in turn engages an electric hydrolic oil pump?

    Adam,

No plans to change or make a new model, at this moment.

The power steering works when the key is on. It is power steering and when the key is off you are back to hydraulic steering. I don’t know the details of how it works and I don’t know if its like the Verado. I do know there is a pump mounted under the console.

There have been no issues with battery draining. The extra battery is mainly for back-up(a very nice feature)

I take it this unit comes pre rigged with the 250 ? or can you get a 225 ?

    Another question…

I have learned the hard way in the past about underpowering your rig…what would be the minimum HSP you would put on this rig ?

    thanks

The price between a 225HP and 250HP is very little (less than you would think). The engineers tested a 200HP and said it handled the V210, well. I would guess the 200HP would probably be the smallest engine for the V210. When going to a boat of this size, I think most folks would go for a 250HP.
