This is just an interest thing about tournament fishing. Nothing else, no axe to grind just being curious. Yes, I have participated in tournament fishing. Now the question is how many of you tournament fisherman/women, have previously participated in competitive athletics at the varsity level in high school or at the varsity level in college? I think that this might be interesting.

I have competed in hs and college varisty sports (team events) and have fished tournments. If I had to picked betwen fishing tournies and competing in college/hs sports again, I would pick fishing. I prefer having to only relie on your partner and yourself to put the plan together.

I lettered in Cross Country, Swimming, and Track all 4 years of high school. My wife says I’m competitive in everything I do. Now I just love passing boats at take off in a tournament.

The only sport I have competed in was rodeo in college. tourney fishing isn’t near as exciting, but just as expensive But, they are comparable since it is a sport where in reality I am competing against the fish the same as when I rode I only competed against the bareback horse or the bull I was on. I didn’t and still don’t put too much stock in the other competitors. They put there pants on the same way I do every morning; One leg at a time

No varsity yet. What do you expect for a freshman? I play football but used to play baseball and basketball. Quit baseball just this year so I can have more time to fish and I love it!! It is just awesome. Maybe I’ve gained a few pounds, sure But fishing is where it is at!

I played hockey thru high school. I’ve had an urge to fish tournaments for quite a few years. Either time or money have got in the way, but I see your point.

All sports, Fball,Bball,Baseball..And Baseball in college.

When it comes to the adrenalin rush, there is no difference for me. I have the SAME feeling now at 10 minutes to 8:00 (before a tourney) that I had at 10 minutes to 7:00 when I was playing football in highschool. A nervous yet excited pit in my stomach. I remember gagging on my mouth guard before kickoff. lol, not cool. But this is a competitive thing, I think you will find a lot of x-sportsters looking for that same feeling.

I don’t get into as many tournaments as i would like ,but that feeling is addictive.

I am on varsity football at my school, it is awsome, the level of competitiveness is so high, it is such a good feeling to be on the field, but catching a big bass is equally as awsome too me, and i have more of a chance to become a pro bass fisherman than becoming a pro football player

i didn’t play sports in high school. I have been playing them since though. I am like wats, I was into the rodeos, and I will tell you this, I have yet to find anything to do with fishing that get the heart pumping like bull riding did. but anyway, just starting into plaque tourneys as well. hopefully my first year will go good.

Played 4 years of fb, lettered 3 of em, and lettered 4 years in wrestling.

As stated before, not a lot of tournament fishing, but that is slowly changing.

Football, Basketball, Baseball in highschool. Basketball in college 1 year. After getting stiches in the eyebrow and stiches in the cheek I decided to drink…I mean study more.

Enjoy the competitive aspect of fishing. I think what I enjoy more is fishing a circuit and building friendships over the years with guys that have the same love of the sport. This walleye fishing stuff is more of a fraternity thank you realize. Through the walleye club in town here and by fishing tournaments I have meet many anglers across the midwest and we have become great friends. Actually….I think the only close friends I have fish!
