Is it me or are the ticks worse than normal this year? I take my three dogs for a couple mile walk in the tall grass along the fields and woods around our house. The ticks are rediculously thick. My dogs are all frontlined and I’m still pulling a dozen a day off the little terrier after every outing. I’m pulling a dozen off my self after the walk also. They sure didn’t seem that bad last year. I’m also seeing more of the small ticks(I think they are deer ticks) this year also.

I agree the ticks are very bad this year unsure why??? I went out to my land this past weekend and hung 12 bluebird houses…I think I has 2 ticks for every house I hung..Also on friday a buddy of mine who just happened to be a new member on IDA (ranger619), found a deer tick dug into him and had to get it taken out..Im afraid to see whats going to happen when I start turkey hunting Wed.

Took my 5yr old Turkey hunting with me last week for one day we got 16 ticks 0 turkeys 3 were deer ticks. I live in the city with woods in back I’ve taken 15 to 20 off my dogs
and almost all of them were deer ticks. I just got 3 more before I sat down, found deer ticks inside the ears of both my little kids so check carefully one was allready stuck and we were on our way back from the state park.

Do all Deer ticks carry Lime Disease? And is there a decent chance you won’t get it when you find one on you?

I live in NorthWest Wisconsin and I was out turkey hunting this past weekend on Saturday and Sunday. We had three people in total with us. On saturday between us all we picked off 78 ticks and on Sunday we pulled off a whopping 147 ticks. Very gross. The hot dry weather does not help at all

My pup has already come down with a case of Limes this year. That was 5 weeks ago and the vet said she would have contracted with 2 weeks of that. I have never seen ticks out that early in central MN.

With that many ticks around I wouldnt be walking my dogs in the fields or woods… why take the unneccessary risk? Let the dog get fat for a few weeks, the ticks usually die down some pretty soon.

I suspect the warmer tan average weather has a lot to do with the hatch, those 85 degree days couldnt have helped either.

One of God’s most worthless creatures…I hate ticks…spent 2 hours at my campsite 3 weeks ago, and found 2 ticks the next day (this was 3 days after that 8″ snowstorm)

Did I mention that I hate ticks?

I pull 2-3 ticks off myself and my dog every time I go for a walk in the city park by my house. We are not even walking in tall grass.

All I can say guys is sack it up and deal with it. The dogs need to be run.

Did I say I hate ticks too?

There’s so many ticks Brad Paisley wrote a song about them, gonna be on his next album…chorus goes…I’d like to check you for ticks. He calls it a redneck lovesong.

HI this is Dani and I just took my daughter to the Doctor on Friday she was bitten by a wood tick and the doc said they are not the ones to becareful of but the Deer Ticks are the ones that carry limes disease. Get your self or your dogs checked if you notice any marks staying there and they get real red. Also if you start getting sick like a normal cold so you think get in also. Lime deisease is no fun. Wood tick bites are nasty. I have a few scars that still occasionally flare up even many years after bite. I’ve had 3 or 4 that burried without me knowing it until too late. The initial wound takes a long time to heal and the scar is for life as far as I know. This doesnt even count diseased ticks. Just the regular ones.

Haha…if I didn’t know better I’d guess that you’ve heard Brad Paiseley’s new song “I’d like to check you for ticks”! Any in case, for the back in the woods; rugged outdoors kind of guys you might want to listen to the song. Haha! ~Tara~
