Thank god the day is almost over. Well, I thought I might go fishing today so I hooked up my ranger up to the boat got everything ready and headed to town for fuel not even two miles down the road a turkey flew up out of the ditch and smashed into my windshield. It didn’t bust all the way threw but the hwole thing is spider cracked all the way across. So I drove back home unhooked the boat and hooked it up to my other truck. I finally got on the road and was on my way to the lake. Everything was going so well except the fish werent bitting. So I went for a cruz up and down the lake. Then all of a suden my engine started making funny noises. Then it shut right down. Oh no…now my motor is shot. I think what happen is one of the lower crank shaft bearings went out. So if that wasn’t bad a enough I loaded up the boat and headed over to one of the other lakes that is less than a 1/8 a mile away and on the way there I hit a pot hole and bent the hell out of my prop. The way my day was going I thought for sure I would have goten pulled over on way home just to top every thing off. So now I am in a dilemma to either fix my motor, or just buy a new one, or just buy a whole new boat and say the hell with it. What would you do?

My day wasnt much better. I spent most of the day tracking down wires that got smoked from red squirrels making a nest under the hood and a short was happening. After wire repair(planned to go fishing), I went to start the truck and it just kept on turning over even when I let off the key! I turned the ignition back forward and it fired, the starter finally disengauged, and all the guages looked good and nothing burning… for a moment anyhow. Next thing I know my dash went dead like I turned the key off, the motor still ran just fine.. and the dash would kick in and out.. I turned the vehical off, the engine stopped running, but the fuel pump didnt??

So I spent the last 5 hours tracking down parts and learning how to rebuild a steering column frm A to Z when I learned there was a short in the column and the entire ignition system needed replacing. Of course when I pulled the column apart and got a couple pieces out.. bearings and a chunk of metal came out of the column.. the tilt was damaged… So off to the junk yard to get another used column to do the work to after doing all the work to the 1st column.

Tomorrow.. I’ll find out if I did a good job when I have daylight to reinstall the column and get to hit the key… I would put it off and go fishing, but of coarse I parked the truck in front of the boat!

wow, I’m sorry! That definitely is a horrible day! I guess a bright side- be glad the turkey didn’t go through the windshield! I know somebody who had a turkey go right through their windshield and made a blood spattered mess in the back seat at 75 mph. That would not be fun to clean up

    Hey Chad,
You left out the prop details when I saw you today………I think it’s time for a new boat. You better get it before you bite the bullet and buy that ring………..you’ll never get one then!

I’m thinking I’ll keep my mouth shut…I was going to complain that I didn’t catch any 5 lbs walleyes tonight before the FLW tourney….just a mess of 3 pound channels.

Man, that sucks. I can tell you that I definitely identify with you…I had a day very similar to this back on Jan 19th. Ya, it was so bad, I remember the date!

Hope things look up for ya in a hurry.

I didn’t have any bad things to cars or trucks, but I think I may take the prize for this week….unless anyone else had colo-rectal surgery…….for the second time in 8 weeks….but that wasn’t as bad as ripping my hernia further….dowwwwwn….which will require surgery probably within the month…nice thing is the hernia pain hides the “surgery pain”
