I was in the process of installing new batteries in my skeeter. Was is the key word. Taped all the wires together so I wouldnt forget where they came from. Well if you have ever saw a battery compartment with three sets of batteries you know how much of a mess it can be. Well when I went to lower the vantage to test it out it just makes a sparking sound in the battery compartment? When you hook the batteries together to make 24v its positive to negative is this correct? I am confused, either that or the trolling motor is shot, better not be. Any suggestions?

Check two posts down, the one titled “how many batteries.?” The later replies list how to connect for 24v. Easier than writing it all down again.

The vantage also has a 12 V hook up for the auto deploy. If you hooked those leads to 24v, your auto deploy will fry.

I’m afraid Derek could be right if you hooked the 12 volt DC power that controls the lift on the Vantage and it wasn’t from the positive post of the “neg” battery that feeds the Negative side on your 24 Volt motor you may have melted it.

Where are you located so we can steer in the right direction for repair.
