Anyone have any experience with a tiller bow mount trolling motor. I do not like the foot controls and to me it makes since to buy one of these instead. Any opinions welcome.

In talking with a friend of mine that runs one, he says he will never go back. I am not a fan of foot pedals myself, especially cable drive, and can say when the Genesis goes on the front of the Ranger it will be replaced by a hand control 101 Maxum.

You check one of the Bowfishing forums. I think that is all most of those guys use. I go to the BowfishUSA site once in a while because I do some Bowfishing and I see them used quite a bit. I am sure they have some reviews.

I’m of the same opinion as you. I hate the foot controls and I often feel like a hand steer model up front would benefit me more. I do have a cousin that has this setup and he loves it.

I do use the autopilot some and that would be missed, but the advantage of immediate response with a hand steer and immediate correction, IMO would greatly offset the loss of some minor functions.

I’ve been keeping my eye open for one but as you know, they are by far the minority type of trolling motor sold.

I have a 3X Vector 24v that I bought for the transom. After quite a bit of $$$ I managed to get it converted to a bow mount. It really is excellent. I prefer it to foot controls.

I just got a Minnkota 24 volt 3x Riptide hand control on my new Navigator..Haven’t had a chance to use it yet…I like the idea of no foot pedal…it’s not much of a reach with the handle extension and the 3x should help as well.

Personally the co-pilot and auto pilot take over for the need for a foot pedal for me 90% of the time, 10% of the time I need better speed control so then I bring the pedal out. Honestly I don’t like the pedals much either, but I love the co-pilot. (the auto pilot let me have more freedom by tracking a compass heading so I don’t have to correct it much.)
