Now that I have stopped shaking a little, I must share our news. My 16-year old son is a very hard working, motivated kid. He is number 1 in his junior class, and tries to do the things that he thinks will help him get into a great college, etc. He wants to be a physician.

He applied for an internship at the University of Illinois College of Medicine a couple of months ago. The medical school has four internships for the reasearch teams this year. He was competing against thousands of other students, including college students. The application and interview process was quite extensive, and even included my wife and I. The college selected Jordan to join the team that is researching prostrate cancer. This is an actual research position and not one that has him getting coffee for the scientists on the team, etc. I’m not sure Jordan fully understands the impact this will have on his college and scholarship applications.

I’m all puffy chested and swelled up like a toad today. This is a very special time in our house, and I just had to share.

You have every right to be proud and boastfull.

It’s sad to hear on the news about all the bad things kids today are doing in the world today. Hearing a story about a boy like yours doing what he’s doing is very enlightening for us all to hear.

    Thanks.

Congatulation Jeff to you and your son. My sister was actually diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 weeks ago. I hope your son will assist others in finding a cure for this horrible disease.

Congratulations!! My job exposes me to a lot of kids on a daily bassis, and the number of kids that could not pass a simple job interview is amazing. It sure sounds like you son had got it all together. You have every reason to be a proud parent. Good luck to you all.
